Good day Lady Lucy. I finally finished series three of Robin Hood...not sure how I feel about the ending, or the whole season for that matter. I didn't like Robin's relationships with Isabella or Kate, Sir Guy getting redeemed was a little too much, and having him and Robin work together??? I don't know, as much as Sir Guy was my favourite character I can't see Robin ever actually getting past what was done to Marian enough to work with Guy. Oh well. I'm glad Robin was reunited with Marian in the end.

Now I'm going to move into modern day and watch Glee - is that shown in Australia??

Lady Lucy Wentworth, I wanted to drop by and formally introduce myself to you. I believe that you became a member of AA whilst I was out on my most recent voyage. I wanted to welcome you and invite you over to visit the Lady-Wife and I over cold lemonade (or something stronger, of course) at your leisure. I look forward to making your acquaintance.

By the bye, you wouldn't happen to be related to the Captain Frederick and Anne Wentworth, would you?

    Cheers! Sir Roddy

Actually, it's the way the photo is cropped ! And Diana Dors obviously believed that if you got 'em, flaunt 'em.

I have never understood how anyone can sell their old teds; when I think what my darling oldest one has been through with me, I can't think of any bribe-even a First Folio- that would take him from me. But as I also can't think who'd WANT to take an almost bald bear with hat hair from me in exchange for a First Folio,, it's academic ! The president of Mercedes takes his with him everywhere, so if he can, I can.

Hi Kate! I've just read you review of The Never Ending Story, you've made it sound a must read, I'm going to try and get a copy to read, I'll let you know what I think. I always struggle to write interesting reviews, I feel that my reviews sound all the same.

Hi Kate. I've watched the first half of Robin Hood, and love it! I admit I wasn't impressed with the first few episodes (except I love Friar Tuck), but one Gisbourne's sister showed up I thought it improved greatly. Toby Stephens does a pretty good job as Prince John, although I don't think the characterization is in keeping with Prince John's actual character as I understand it to have been...he was pretty tough, and easy to anger I think - Robin Hood's Prince John seems a bit too whiny to me.

I'll keep my eyes open for Lark Rise to Candleford - the DVD sets are in my BBC shop catalogue. Is the series based on a set of novels? If so, I'd probably read them before watching the series.

That sounds delightful! And yes, a month or later would be perfect. :)

I saw 'The Complete Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde' in the library just a week ago and it was oh! so tempting to pick it up and sneak out.

Oh, his stories are just magic. Occasionally crossing the line into self-conscious beauty, but dear me, it was the spirit of the age. I will always regret not ringing the doorbell of his former house & at least getting a look inside before they shut the door in my face.

I am currently rereading 'The Getting of Wisdom' which I found-at last ! at last !-in a bookshop on Wednesday & cannot put down. I was caught at 11 am still not dressed, bed not made, teddies not up*, entranced by it. Although I remember it so well, it is just like the first time I read it. Oh my. What a classic. Totally different to her 'Maurice Guest' which I acquired a few months ago. Two classics, completely dissimilar. I prefer TGOW.

Isn't Dee a dear person ? What joy she must bring to everyone who knows her, but she's not like "Little Radiance' in a Victorian book that I once had ! (pauses to remember Little Radiance, who was christened that & lived up to it, ick, ick , ick)

*four teds who share my bed, in a sleeping bag because the oldest one is a bit fragile-he's really a koala made of real fur. In the day they sit on the windowsill.

I'm fairly ill-versed myself, and I'm taking a renewed interest only now. I've been feeling negligent about the Greeks these past months. Right now I've got involved with Euripides, and after that I'm going to get reacquainted with Sophocles -- whose Theban plays are the only ones I know well -- and then see if Aeschylus holds any charms for me now; he certainly didn't when I was young.

Which is to say, I'm no help at all!

Hi! I've not heard of Garrow's Law, but am familiar with Foyle's War...I'll have to check out the BBC Canada shop to see if they are available as they both sound interesting. Have you seen Inspector Lewis? It's a modern day detective series set in Oxford. It's excellent. My husband has been watching a lot of Sherlock Holmes lately, but so far I haven't seen any of the movies...okay, not true, I did see the new movie with Robert Downey, Jr, but I've not seen any of the BBC Holmes movies. Have you watched them?

Hi again Lady Lucy. I do indeed love the Tudor period of English history, although I'm becoming more and more of a fan of the Plantagenet period. I will happily read about pretty much any period of English history though :-)

I've ordered my copy of Robin Hood, and expect it will arrive next week. I'll start watching next weekend, and will let you know what I think! I'm looking forward to the introduction of Prince John and Friar Tuck.

My dear! We have 53 books in common. Hurrah!!

I do so love meeting people who can read children's books without being cagey about it :)

I see you're planning on reading two or three books that I'm planning as well. Would you like to read them together?
