There's just no way I can read a whole series any more. If there is one book of the Elm Creek Quilters that was particularly good, I'd like to try that one out.

Is there any one in particular you'd recommend for me to "test drive?" Time is at a premium these days, so I'd like to start with the best one(s) first and expand as time permits.

    Thanks for the recommendation!!

I think this baby dog is such a cutie. Would love to see more.

I have read the Shack and loved it. I am not into buying books. Get everything from the library....but I did buy that book. Not too expensive. And one you might want to read again. It has lots of offer. And I think it is one of those books that you might glean different information from at different readings.

Of course! I responded in one of the threads. I was thinking it was something you and I were talking about. Sometimes my brain acts like that sweet dog you have in your avatar. Is that a cocker spaniel? He looks grey....like my 13 year old golden retriever. So very cute.

I have just recently read Cold Sassy Tree and I enjoyed it. I love Southern stories, since I live right in the middle of it!

I am reading The Constant Princess by Phillipa Gregory. I do like a good historical novel and this author is very popular in the Historical Fiction groups. So far, so good.

As I noted in my profile, I bounce back and forth in my choice of genres. I like everything except Romance and Sci Fi. Don't read many biographies, but I should try some.

"The Kite Runner" is a wonderful book about Afghanistan and Al-Quaeda. I have to tell you it's a tear jerker too.

    Hi ksee,

I would really like "The Sunflower." The orphanage caught my attention. I think orphans are special. I remember orphanage in "The Kite Runner." This is a sad part of that novel. I won't go further in case you haven't read "The Kite Runner." If it's alright, I'm going to put "The Sunflower" on my shelf as a book to read.

    Hi Ksee,

No, I don't know much about quilting. Lately, I have been crocheting. I would love to quilt. So, I have an open mind.

    Hi Ksee,

We love some of the same books. I really like what's on your bookshelf. I have read some J.C.'s quilting novels. I want to read the whole series from the beginning. I love being in Pa. with those quilters.:)

I don't know much about KINDLE other than seeing one that my friend has. I think it would be nice to have on long trips so I don't have to lug around several books. My friend has even downloaded the Bible on hers! I don't know......I just don't think I am ready to hold an electronic book. I like reading books - or listening to them. Maybe when then come down in price, I will get one.

I am not a birder, and in fact, (blush) I am a little afraid of birds. I do appreciate looking at them, but I don't want them close. It has to do with a fear of things flying at me...wasps, dragonflys, you name it. But I love my cardinals that live with their mates in my backyard, that is for sure!

I am just trying to get into the MP3 scene so I don't seem "out of it"! LOL! I am 57 and see my 89 year old dad completely confused by computers. So right now at least I am refusing to get behind. Of course I am already behind because there are so many technological things that have me baffied.

I bought a 2 GB Creative Zen MP3 player after researching the list of players that support the format of files that can be downloaded from the library. It was about $80.00 at Walmart. I picked one out that would let me bookmark where I was, since that seemed important. I have learned that it doesn't really matter anyway, because when you turn off the device, it starts up again where you left off.

I really like this little player. It is easy to see (note age above) and I have finally figured out the menus on it. It was amazingly easy to download. I downloaded the book to my computer and then down to my player. The directions were clear and easy.

You could get a player with a whole lot more storage, but I have two books on mine right now and still haven't used it up. I plan to delete them when I am finished anyway.

This may be more information than you wanted, but I had a hard time figuring out what to do to get off the CD format, so I thought I would share!

My son just finished school at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. We were up there a couple of times and really enjoyed the Hudson Valley area. But you are over in the COLD and snowy part! BRRR! I will be thinking of you in January when it is cold here in southern GA at 40 degrees!

I have been using a CD player so that I could check out cd's from the library. But then our library system started an MP3 download system and I can "checkout" books to my player. It is so much nicer than lugging around the cd. I held out until the library came up with their system because I can't stand paying for books - either on line or hard copies. Now I can download for free from the library! Only get to keep them for 7 days but you can re-check out if someone doesn't want it.

Where do you live? I live in South Georgia. You can check out my profile.

Hi new friend! I am listening to The Bone Garden even as I type. I have found that I can get a lot of housework done if I have a good book on my MP3 player. I carry it around in my pocket! Now THAT is multitasking!

I will look for BloodStream as well.

    Hi Marie~

Nice question, one many new members have! You can find the answer to this, and other common questions on the FAQ thread at http://www.shelfari.com/groups/21541/discussions/72084/FAQ-for-New-Play-Book-Tag-Members#632659. I also bumped it up so it's easier to find :)

About the question regarding the England tag:
A tag is a way to notate a book with a descriptor so that later you can easily find the book. Shelfari users often tag their books so that they can easily find them on their shelves. Examples of tags might be: history, China, literary fiction, or humor.

Shelfari maintains a list of the tags that are the most used by Shelfari members. You can find this list at the following URL:

    http://www.shelfari.com/books/tags.

These are the tags we use for Play Book Tag. Each month, a tag is chosen and most members read a book that fits the tag.

An alternative way to navigate to the list of tags is:

    1. Click the Book Tab.
    2. Scroll down to the section entitled Book Tags.
    3. Click on the tiny link in that section that reads "More Tags", and it will bring you to the list of the Top 200 tags on Shelfari.

Any of the books on this list will work for this month! If you happen to read a book that you feel fits in well but isn't tagged as such on Shelfari, then go ahead and write a review for it! We're pretty flexible. Hope this helps and I'll be seeing you around :)

We should definitely be friends! Shelfari says that we only have 3 books in common but I have read all of the Patricia Cornwell, John Grisham, and Laura Ingalls Wilder books! Who is Tess Gerritsen? Her stuff looks interesting...
