I live in the Boston area and love to read all sorts of books. In the last few years I've read a lot of memoirs and non-fiction. However, I love good fiction, so if you have recommendations, I'm all ears!

I would read Inkheart to my child (who is 9), but I think it would be a bit difficult for a seven (or nine) year old to understand.

A big thumbs up for Inkheart. I lost myself in the Inkworld. The story is really interesting; all the characters are really well developed and you care about them. I couldn't wait to read Inkspell and Inkdeath afterwards and loved them just as much.

Yes...Yes! It is a young adult book but I loved it. I teach so I am into that level of genre.

Cornelia Funk can spin a wonderful tale. Inkheart is a wonderful blend of family love and magic that's gone astray. I think you'll like it.

Sure thing. I found it very imaginative and insightful as far as subtleties of human character and relationships. It's also very engaging. I think I read it in one session -- stayed up late to finish it as I recall. Hope you enjoy it.

No, I didn't read "My Husband's Sweethearts". I was actually looking for more of a recommendation. I guess you not finishing it means that it's not worth reading. It seems like an extaordinarily odd premise!

Hi Christina, I felt that the narrator (who is also the vicitim) had a strange sense of peace about the whole story which made the whole thing easier to manage. I only had Max then, and he was very young. I have found as my boys get older, these things get more and more difficult to read about. In general though, I am super sensitive to these topics, and I got through it okay. take care, Michele

Hi! I honestly don't remember clicking no. I have a really bad internet connection, so there may have been a delay and it was an accidental click.
I read the lovely bones a long time ago, so my opinion may not be the most accurate. I remember it being raw, moving, difficult, but a worth while read. Certainly not for someone looking for something light, but a great book.
    Sorry for any confusion!
I took a look at your shelf and I highly recommend that you read "Remember Me?" It's a light, fluff read, but great for what it is.
I was also wondering what you think about "My Husband's Sweethearts."
    Thanks!
