    Hey Alan,

I am glad that you liked WFR! Now that you have that taste in your mouth for these characters and books I think you will roll right through the entire series.. and what a series it is! I'm glad you just joined the SWoT fan group, you should add stuff to the group since your reading everything for the first time right now. Enjoy the reading and the story! (let me know what you think of SoT!

They are remaking Dune?! that will be awesome (no that the 80's version wasn't sweet...). I know they did a mini series in 2000, i never watched it though. Eddings last series? I don't remember... so that must tell you somthing. I remember reading the enitire collection and enjoying the story as a whole, however they do get very repetitive. I liked Polgara and Belgarath (thier books) as a final read however.
So what turned you onto the SoT series?

I didn't read the whole Dune series, just the first four books... but i enjoyed them. I hope you like WFR, I've come across a few ppl on here who didn't appreciate the SoT series.

    Hi Alan,

Like you, I prefer the printed word. I really find it hard to actually read a great deal on screen and if it's something I want to absorb I find I have to print it off! Although I can see that many nediums will go this way in the future, like you, I'm not sure that being able to curl up somewhere with a good book can be replaced. Besides, what better way to spend some time than browsing amongst the books of a good store.

I have a friend who loves the smell of old books and whenever I loan him one of my older copies, the first thing he does is to smell it. The first time he did this I thought he was off his rocker!

    Ah, well. Duty calls.

    Speak with you again.

    Hi Alan,

I think it often depends what comes first - the show/film or the book. The books based on the original Star Trek Series were very faithful to the episodes as they were taken from the series (in fact used to drive my father wild as I'd read them so often I would quote alongside the episode showing).

However, if the book comes first the film/series can often be a disappointment. I know I love The Day of the Triffids and as far as I'm concerned the film is a travesty, especially the 'happy ever after' ending. I think I read that the BBC are looking at doing another TV series based on the book. We'll see anyway. I suspect i'm in for another disappointment but may be pleasantly surprised.

BTW I'm looking out for those books you recommended but have just bought Eregon (on offer in local supermarket). Where do you buy most of your books? I don't mind internet shopping for the prices, but personally feel you can't beat browsing along the shelves of a bookstore and passing a few idle moments daydreaming of how many you'd buy if you only had the money!!

Hiya, you asked me about new TV series of Battlestar Gallactica and I didn't respond: it's on satallite over here and I don't get that, so what I have seen has been courtesy of a friend who taped me some of the series. The original was fun but this is much grittier and darker, which I like. I thought the first series was excellent, but thought it lost the plot a little when they settled on the planet. The few I've seen of them being space-borne again seems to have gone back to the same standard as the first series.

I'm just trying to think if they did a book of the original TV series, in which I case I probably read that! What do you think of books using TV screenplays as their basis?

Would you like me to put your books on Storycasting.com? We've already got several ebooks and even a few podcasts on there. We're not really a hot 'promotion' site, but fantasy casting might be one more fun thing you can blog about and then send your fans to do.

hmm, sounds nice. I will have to attempt it. I read 500 page novels daily so i guess i can handle it. But, my mom has to look over my books before i read them because once, well i got a BAAAAD book on accident, and she was flabbergasted that would get much less read that kind of thing. So as long as the book is 7th grader appropriate...

Oh, i read the Elumian-whatever and the Tamuli by David Eddings but that is it. He is one of my Favorite authors. He is right up there behind breathing. Tamora Peirce is my favorite. Sptephanie Meyers and Kate Constable are 2nd. then its David Eddings. But i don't want to bore you with my list of the 25 best authors. That "Papa Tolkein" is not on. Probebly because i haven't read any of his material. But, all the same, he isn't on there. Ya'll are simply going to have to get over it. (i say that alot, i just noticed)

just a fair warning, you might find a bit sarcastic. I have plenty of good humor points but that one is wel... probebly a short coming, i can handle almost anyone and anything so am actually happy to have your friendship. But i noticed that you have some David Eddings novels. I am supposing (just a funny little feeling) that you possibly like the auhtor??
