Janice Loves B♥♥ks!

Welcome to my book nook!

I live in Massachusetts/USA, and I am retired.
Audiobooks are my drug of choice! Listening
to Lux Radio Theatre plays from the 40's and
50's is also a passion of mine. I enjoy eBooks
downloaded to my Amazon Kindle and PC, too.
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Fantastic Fiction,... more »

    Hi Janice.
Thanks for the note on your new group. I just joined and I left the first discussion post. What fun to be in on the "ground floor" of a group. I hope you get lots of members!

Hi! I like Lux Radio Theatre too. My favorite performance is "The Egg and I" with Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray. What is yours?

The Reason I put the Price on my to be read list is because I picked it up when I was at Library Saturday, looked interesting. When I got home that is when I saw it was part of a series. They have two other books in that series, one on CD and one available for download. If I want to read the first three books in series I have to read the book book. I was thinking of listening to The Price, if I like it I might go back and start over at start of series with the book book.
    Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear you are enjoying Shanghai Moon. Now you need to try Guersey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society because it is very special indeed!

    Hi Janice
Thanks for the suggestion. Play Dead was the first of this series that I read and really liked the humor. I find I don't always enjoy really intense thrillers and this was just right. Will check out Bury The Lead.
I don't have Loving Frank listed but I did read it. I got very frustrated with Mamah but that is the sign of a good writer when they make you care about the people in the novel. Looking forward to reading The Women.
Since you like Maisie Dobbs you might enjoy Duty to the Dead by Charles Todd. It is also set in the WW1 era and the main character is a nurse home on leave who finds herself involved in solving a murder.
I have a long to read list and get most of my books from the local library. I always have a stack on hand and get very nervous when my supply gets low!
    Thanks for the suggestions.

I just finsihed a really great short book called If I Stay and I wanted to suggest it to you. It is available in some Overdrive systems. Mine did not have it but my sister-in-law's did. It is by Gayle Forman. I was riveted and could not put my mp3 player down!!! It is a bit of a love story, teen romance but with so much depth. The 17 year old girl is trown out of her body during a car accident and she observes the scene for the next 24 hours. I won't say more because it is a short 4 part read and I don't want to spoil it.

Good morning Janice, does Audible ever have their audio books on sale? Are there any sites for free audio books? I bought 2 more last night, a mystery by Stuart Woods and a book by Jon Krauker (sp?) about a young boy whose body is found in the wilderness of Alaska. Forgot the name...

Yes, I would totally agree with you there. More newspapers are going electronic instead of paper printed, the Kindle might have put a little charge in doing that. I work for a magazine printer and a few years ago they started doing E-Editions of magazines, just in the last year those editions have started taking off also. There is going to be pros and cons to everything we do, someone is always going to have a negative side for everything.

OK, I checked my library and they have one of his books on CD. Thanks for the help. One of the subjects tags was legal thriller, so I think I'll give it a try.
