TS (Garp?),I haven't read either collection in about 30 years, but I remember thinking that the stories and poems were mainly of interest only to Agee devotees. The story "A Mother's Tale" is very powerful, if a bit heavy-handed with the religious symbolism, a problem he had in much of his early work. You might enjoy reading his Letters to Father Flye, his mentor, or Agee on Film (excellent, insightful essays/reviews). Maybe it's time for me to take these two books out for a re-read. They might have a different impact on the 49-year-old me than they did on the college me.
