Ew! I'm not sure I would want to read that book...maybe. Alice Walker wrote The Color Purple, right? I remember not being a huge fan of that one. Thanks!!! :)

My daughter gave me this book months ago. I have been reading it on and off. I have a difficult time staying focused. While I do have empathy for those less fortunate abroad I find it too overwhelming to think too hard or long about anything beyond our boundaries where there is so much need already. I'm glad our school will participate in Pennies for Peace.

I absolutely loved Celia Rivenbark's Southern Belle series, it was hilarious and so true! If you like "Stop Dressing Your Six-Year-Old like a Skank" you'll also like "Southern Belles: We're just like you only prettier."

Ooh The Mole People seems intriguing, it kind of sounds like something Stephen King would write. I'm going to add that and Red Tent to my shelf so I don't forget about them. As for Water For Elephants, I absolutely loved it, couldn't put it down. I actually made my mom read it to me while driving on a road trip because I had to find out what happened.

My boyfriend read The Memory Keeper's Daughter and he said it was good so I'll have to check that out.

As for right now, I am reading The Shack by William Young which is really interesting so far. You definitely have to take it as fiction, but it's eye opening about the Christian faith. I actually stayed up until four in the morning reading it the other night!

What did you think about Into the Wild? I really liked it but it got a little lost on the mountain-climbing terminology. Definitely a tragic story.

Also, beware of the Twilight series. They're easy reads, but very addictive. I only read the first one (because I made a personal vow to myself not to read any more) but I definitely could have read them all!

Bummer!!! That's no fun! I'm glad you read it...and now I know not to! :) I just finished Dairy Queen. Very cute book about a high school girl playing football in Wisconsin.

boo! I hate when that happens. I'm about half way though The Kept Man right now and it's really started picking up the pace and getting interesting. The cool thing is that the author (Jami Attenberg) came to our school and did a reading -- that's how I found out about her -- and she was totally rad. She autographed my copy of the book!

I'll let you know how it is when I'm done.

Welcome to Shelfari! I haven't updated my shelves in a while! I just checked out the 3rd book in the City of Ember series. I'm looking at my picture and it seem so long ago that I was tan! I can't wait for summer!!!!!! :)
