HI Jan! I just finished reading "Indian pipes" by Cynthia Riggs. It's a Victoria Trumbull mystery. Victoria is a 92 year old native of Martha's Vineyard. A nice cozy mystery. That one was so good, that I took out the first one from the Library, "Deadly Nightshade." So, far so good. I also picked up Debbie Macomber's "The Shop on Blossom Street" at a rummage sale. I was really lucky because it was actually the 1st one in the series. Last week I found the second book in the series, "The Good Yarn." Yep! There another knitting mystery. Just what we like.
Goodness! Green Darkness is one of my favorites! My book club in PA read it many moons ago, but I loved it so much that I bought it. Sounds like we will have many books in common. This site has really encouraged and motivated me to read more, and that can only be a good thing. I am so glad you accepted my friend request. I think we will see many books on each other's shelves that we add to our own. Have a great day!
Hi Jan, has summer vacation started for you yet? I see you're reading Voyager. I loved all those books, but have to say "Outlander was my favorite.Got a new mystery series--Verse of the Vampyre, by Diane Killian--the poetry mysteries--haven't started it yet, but it looks good, got a school play, murder, and even vampire neck-wounds...fun summer reading. I keep saying I'll read other stuff, but keep getting pulled in by these fun mysteries.Hope you have a great summer. Going anywhere on vacation? I'm going to Alaska at the end of Aug. to visit my sweet babies and their wonderful Mommy&Daddy. Can't wait. Take care.
Hi Jan, check out this new one..."Permed to Death"...Bad Hair Mysteries by Nancy J. Cohen. Just saw it while I was surfing around here. Sounds promising, going to check it out at B&N later this week.
Oh Jan, just found the "most bestest book ever" Check out a book called "Because of Winn-Dixie" and read the whole review. Can't wait to start it!
Both books have sequels and the sequel to the crochet book is "Dead Men Don't Crochet" Sweet!
Got 2 more craft mysteries for you. "The Friday Night Knitting Club" was a NY Times best-seller for more than 6 weeks...and "Hooked on Murder: A Crochet Mystery" (You knit, I crochet-cool) Just found these, so I'm going to look them up and add them, too.
I guess it's time to update my profile, that little boy will be 1 already on April 5th, but I love the picture. His brother will be 4 on April 5th and he has a brother 5.. The step-grandkids up there are 12 and 10 and are really great kids, they introduce me as "my Grandma" to all their friends which just thrills my heart! Here at home I have a grandson 2&1/2. His Mom is from Bolivia! My son met her in Paraguay when he was a Marine Embassy Guard. Now about books...try the Joan Hess "Claire Malloy books. They are very like the knitting mysteries, bet you'll like them. I want to read more but gosh, so many books, so little time. PS, I'm a baker/cashier at our local "Cinnabon" in our local mall.
Oops, should have been " they're " PS... would you want to do the friend thing on this site? And yes, I loved "Dewey" Try "We Bought a Zoo" by Benjamine Mee. It's about an English family who buy a run-down, small zoo in Dover complete with BIG cats, and have very little idea what to do next. It's a true story. See ya'.
Hi Jan, thanks for writing back. Yes, I love the Robert Parker "Spencer" books, the dialogue between Spencer, his girlfriend Susan, a psycologist, and his bestfriend Hawk, a VERY intimidating bad guy with a heart of gold, make me laugh out loud. I also just added the Charlaine Harris "Southern Vampire series. While not what I usually read, my son and daughter got them for mr, and I really like them. How could you not like a barmaid named Sookie who falls for a vampire named Bill. Their funny and cute.
Hi Jan, I was surfing "Members most like you" up on the explore key here and you popped up. I see that you're a relatively new member. I've been here since last August when my daughter in Alaska signed me up and I LOVE IT. I live in upstate NY. Hope you're enjoying this site. Please click on my name and maybe you can get some new ideas for good books when you hit a dry patch for a good book. Welcome!
I will get my shelves filled just as soon as I get a bit time to sit down for fun on PC. I do think I will like this site.
Hi Jan! I like shelfari. Thanks for inviting me. I enjoy seeing what you're reading. Plus I love seeing all my books on a shelf. Yes, the picture's from California. Question: how do you change your profile so only your friends can see you?
