Laura

My choice of books in the past always leaned toward horror or fantasy fiction. As I've gotten older I've stretched my reading genre. I devoure anything from childrens books (as I've got children) to romance (which is a new one for me). For me its always been a way to do things and go places only my imagination could carry me.

Laura, thank you! Tickled pink you've been enjoying the series! I lurk on loops and pretty much don't participate in anything, but met Candace, Janon, and Ann at AAD, so making an exception and joined JTV. Sounds and seems very much like my kind of crowd with my type of reading tastes, so perhaps Ann's arm-twisting to drop in will be an unexpected wonderful source of new authors and reads for me.

Have you read the Mona Lisa series books by Sunny? I would read those ones first before you read the Lucinda ones. I didn't see them on your shelf.

Since I got back from AAD, we have been dumped on here in Denver with about 3 ft of snow in two days. I bet it is nice where you are at.

Yes! March. Why is it I feel today as if I'm due today. The walk from my car to my office had me winded. lol

My daughter too had the flu last week. The whole house had to take the medication for it since I was pregnant. I took the medication for about 3 days and stopped. The medicine was giving me the runs and making my stomach cramp. so here's to crossed fingers!!!

OH and Happy Birthday!! I hope you get something good and have time to rest and not b/c you have the flu. lol

Hey! thanks! I'm doing well. Just sitting here waiting for my hubby to get her to go do my ultrasound. We already know we are having a girl but we are having another ultrasound today. One of the perks of working at the doctors office. lol
Haven't been reading much here lately. And when I do it's parenting magazine. Other than that not much going on.
    Hope your doing well too!

I've never read Goodkind. Have you ever read Magic Bites of the Kate Daniels series? I think you would like it. I put Swan Song on my list. It looks pretty good. Goodkind looks a little too soapy for me, though. I may have to check out the King novels you mentioned. By the way, will you invite me to that 'Just the Vamps' group you are in? I tried to join but it says I must be invited. I tried to find the Wyvern book, but couldn't.

Hey, just wanted to let you know we picked the Fever series for our next series to read at Vamps, Witches, and Weres & Kick A** Chicks Paranormal/Urban Fantasy Book Club. We are also voting on our Oct BOTM. I hope you'll join us and help us make a decision!

I loved Blackwood Farms. Except the conclusion of the series (Taltos?) was horrible. I felt betrayed. I've read most of her stuff too. At least under her own name. I tried that other stuff about the choirboy eunuchs but I hated it. And I couldn't read Memnok the Devil because it felt like my spirit was getting dirty! :)

Stephen King used to be my favorite too. His early stuff was so crisp and descriptive. But now... I guess genius is hard to carry after a hundred novels or so. I like a fraction of Dean Koontz. He always seems like a poor man's Stephen King (I hate that expression). I especially liked one of his novels that was made into a movie. The movie was bad, of course but the book. It was called "Phantoms". I just put Odd Thomas on my "to read" list. It looks good. Have you ever read a series called "Necroscope"? It reminds me a little of the description of Odd Thomas. I like Brian Lumley. He can be a bit ephemeral but he is good. I read the Stand. One of the largest paperbacks I ever read! Made my fingers hurt. It was good, but The Shining was better!

Miss Ward is a little too much romance for me. I like the action and adult themes though. :)

You should try some of McCaffery's other stuff. She has tons. Some are not that great and some are really good; so if you tire of one, just try another series. Sometimes her series' will start out strong and then fizzle on the 3rd book. I know you have probably already read them and it seems a little obvious but have you read Anne Rice and all her vampire chronicles? Tale of the Body Thief and The Mummy are two of my favorite books. For Tale of the Body Thief it would be best if you have read the main books first.

No, but I'm gonna'. It looks great! Thanks for the tip. I like McCaffery. Her stuff leans towards the feminist, but I like female empowerment. Great stories, though they can be a bit slow and drawn out...

Oh, you are lucky...you can use your season passes on "special" entertainment!! I live in Orlando, so about 2 hours away from Tampa. Halloween Horror nights is at Universal Studios in Orlando. I am STILL trying to convince hubby to go to the Vamp one...I am sure it will be much better!!!
