I love to read and talk to people about what I read. I usually have six or eight books going at a time. I don't want to be caught bored with nothing to read so I carry a book in my bag, have one in the bathroom and an audio book in the kitchen to play while I do my chores and eat breakfast.

My favorite place to read is in bed where I'll... more »

So you have a pretty wide variety of tastes in books then... I wish my mind could wrap around that many books when reading, but it doesn't. But my taste in books are also pretty limited. Oh, but audios don't stick well in my mind for some reason. I have to see the words written out on paper to follow along. However, my husband is visually impaired and he uses many audio books for reading.

Hi Rose, Wow, you can read more than one book at a time? That's amazing. I couldn't do that because I would get the stories all jumbled up together in my head, ha ha.

Enjoyed reading your reviews of some books! I admire how fast you can read. I am a slow reader, but I try to get better, since I really enjoy reading.

Welcome to the group based on the book 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die.
There is a general explanation of the group under the discussion thread GROUP GUIDELINES. The past BOTM can be found pinned to the top for 2010 and 2009 if you want to search discussions you can join in. It will bring the discussions forward if you do.
The books of the month (BOTM) that the group is reading are pinned to the top. July’s BOTMwill be The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. The questions will be posted the first of the month.
We are also starting something new. It will be a Long Read consisting of books from the list that are greater than a 1000 pages. The group will be starting with War and Peace by Tolstoy.

    Hi Rose,
Took your suggestion on Water Stone Heart ? book. Put it on TBR list. I will try the library first and if they don't have it, I will buy it used on Amazon.
    Thanks,
    Carol

Her definite reason I don't truly know, but she's 29 and still single, thinks about that often, so probably wanted to see what the book noted. She's extremely picky about guys - if his ears stick out too much, that's (to her) good reason to drop him! But far better too picky than not picky at all, I'd say. And better single than married to the wrong man, right? Good to hear from you.

    Hi Rose,

How are you? Reading anything special? I just finished The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society. I really enjoyed it and I thought I would suggest it to you.

In browsing through various friends' sites, I saw that you're currently reading Why Him, Why Her? - odd, that's the same book my grand-daughter is currently reading! She lives here in MA and you live so far away, but the interests are the same right now. Is that a popular book at this time??

Yes, I gladly accept friendship! As I browsed through your shelf I found many titles that I know I read: Door into Summer by Heinlein is one. You seem to have older covers, ones that probably were current when I read the books. How did you find those? Over the years, I know I read Norah Lofts - lots by her, but can't recall the titles, and not even the plots now! The same goes for so many authors. Many times I am so glad to have my nice, old, life - but in that way, getting old isn't so great!

No I can't remember Maria. I do seem to remember that Catherine wed the King of France I believe. They of course were a predominate family for many years so it is easy to get them confused.

Hi Rose, No I have not read the Isabella triology yet. The reason I am intrested in Gorner's book, is based on reading about the Medici family in The Agony and the Escastsy, and other books. I found the family intresting, and therefore am intrested in reading about that family as the main focus of a book instead of being just woven into a story. Ben

I'm just buidling my profile. Haven't had a chance to post books yet. Too busy trying to get my next manuscript to the publisher (which is now past due I might add!)

No worries though. I understand your reasons for declining.

I also love that quote. Whenever I come across a quote, a sentence from a book I'm reading, anything that touches my heart, I copy it into my current journal!
