I am currently preparing to enroll in Graduate School for a MA in Library Science. As far as my reading habits go I am a huge sci-fi fantasy fan. Star Wars and Star Trek are my two favorite series of all time!... more »

You'll be happy to know that Guinan is on the Jedi High Council (along with other Trek luminaries including Spock and Kai Opaka)--she takes takes on a role similar to the one she had in TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterpise". She realizes that something is wrong, that the two universes are merging but she is unsure how to even stop it or reverse it. She is also one of the few Jedi Master's who does not share a milatary ranking (in this amalgam universe, members of the Jedi Defense Force share two ranks, one for their place within the Jedi Order and one for the military--for example, you have the rankings of Padawan-Ensign, Padwaa-Leiutenant, Knight-Commander, Knight-Captain, and Master-Admiral. There is even Grand Master/Grand Admiral, though this post hasn't filled in a very long time. Overall, the Jedi Order in this unverse is more overtly militaristic than the one in the regular Star Wars universe.)

I still need to tweak a few more ideas, so it might be a few more days yet before I make my post (I'll try to post a synopsis of Episode 1 tonight if I can!)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm still tweaking a few things but I'll be making a post in the next day or so! Incidentally, I got this idea one day flipping through the Star Trek Encyclopedia while listening to the soundtrack for 'The Empire Strikes Back' (listening to the Imperial March while reading about Starfleet vessels is sublime!)

LOL--actually, you're further along than I am in that regard--I don't even own any of the books and I'm just now starting the Titan series! The Typhon Pact series looks to be a great read but with the new emphasis on continuity in Trek fiction, would you need to read the Titan series and the Destiny trilogy (not mention the post-series Voyager books) before diving into Typhon? Or does Typhon stand on its own? Sorry Jessica, really wish I could be more help to you!

By the by, I had idea for a post I was going to make over in the Sci/Fantasy Nerd group and I wanted to give you a little preview of what I had in mind (and maybe get some feedback as well). Essentially, I had an idea to combine elements of Star Wars and Star Trek into a sort of amalgamated universe, something I call Trek Wars. For example, I've taken the major plot points of Phantom Menace and ST: The Motion Picture and created Episode 1: The V'Ger Menace. Episode Two is a real treat--I selfishly combined two of my favorites from each universe (Star Trek II and Heir to the Empire trilogy) and created Episode 2: The Wrath of Thrawn! And as for episode III, here's a few hints--Count Dukat, Asohka Dax, and the Nightsisters Collective!

Hopefully you'll like them, but it will probably be in a different way than me. I've got the teenage-girl-obsession-over-cute-character-in-book thing going on. Well, that's not the only thing I like about the series. :) Anyways, happy reading!

You need to read the Hunger Games, because they are awesome, and I need you to join my group. The group needs your logical answers! :)

How very, very ironic! We haven't got a speck, a dusting of the white stuff. (Yoda should go outside and dance, with the snowflakes falling down, and twirl in the snow. Ah, I can't help being this hopeless.)
:) Sounds like my size! On dresses, remember the Frog Princess green dress? I've found one just like it, medium green with a little belt around the waist. It swishes. :)
Yes. My sister said so along the same lines. It's the kind of book you read just for the pleasure of reading it. Kind of like on your shelf, always there for you to pick and continue where you left off. And it pays attention to the smaller details, like little facts or anecdotes. Doing so makes it more believable. It is both funny and serious, shocking and sensitive. Quite fun reading about women during the 'wild' '60's.
:) I'm in the midst of the English Renaissance (The Help is a nice break in between) and y'know who I really want to meet? The one and only, Christoper Marlowe. Perhaps we could take a detour? Pretty please with cherry on top?

I do like your shelf! The 100 Battles one is going to go on my list. How was the Secret Life of Dresses by the way? Have you read The Help perchance? (Taking advantage of the break to catch up on my reading.) I've gone and finished The Cherry Orchard-very soft and rosy on the outside but when we get to the core-or the Curtain-it has quite a different taste. And now I would very much like to meet a Russian gentleman.

Hi Jessica! I did like The Rose Garden a lot. There's time travel involved and that always interests me (probably because I would love to travel back in time haha). I thought the romance in it was really sweet too. There was nothing racy about the book, just a heartfelt story. Thank you for the holiday wishes! I hope you have a great holiday season too :D

I hope you like it better this time! This is the 2nd time I've read it and even though I knew what was going to happen, I was glued to it all evening until I finished. It's still leaving me with questions, but it's good when books make you think about them for a while.

Have you read The Thirteenth Tale? That's another great literary mystery/family drama. Think I'll re-read that one very soon!

Thanks Jessica :D I really love The Ghost Writer, it has such great atmosphere. I can see why you might not have liked it at first because the beginning chapters with Gerard as a teenager obsessing over his pen pal is a little annoying (haha). But once you get to the actual ghost stories that he finds, it gets really good! It's subtle creepiness which I like.

Well Tesla is always in our hearts-he makes us light up!
:) I liked it very much. Oh yes...but let's think: now we've got all these crazy fads (stilettos and skinny jeans) and they aren't exactly for our health, are they. They actually had a episode about the 'fatal' jeans on a show once, *titters*).
Oh it's hilarious! Have you ever seen the duck tail? It was banned once upon a time, methinks.
So a question, if you don't mind: what do you think of feminism?
How dreamy! I've got something else for you know, a little bit different. In keeping with the spirit of things here you go:

:) I tried my hand at it but it ended up as a real hack job. It was to be a flash of genius positioned over a drop-based on a quote. Guess! It's Thomas Edison's most repeated quote: genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration. (Not that he would know.)
Oh yes! We should look-but see here, under the cover is Ray Bradbury's short story:
    http://www.lasalle.edu/~didio/courses/hon462/hon462_assets/sound_of_thunder.htm
That's a short story munchie, if you're up for reading it. It struck with me. :)
lol, Those feet high masses of hair and decorations and jewels! Must've been hard to move their heads. *shake my head* Now this is what I call liberation of women...although mayhaps a few centuries down the line they will look back and laugh at us!
:) Oh, I think- dreams aren't they? Lovely, fleeting dreams where it's reality but not reality. Or perhaps thoughts. They run away so quickly. I'll think of one for you shortly.

We need to get a time machine! Or build one. lol, yes. Isn't it funny that they must've thought they looked lovely? They did, just not by our standards.
Yes! You got it right! Lots of chocolates from Pony this time :)

:) I am in dire need of ego deflation, won't you help me out, dear Jess? ;) Oh definitely.
Sad, innit? Our world gone. But that sounds good, very nice in fact. They say the English countryside is fantastic...and Dublin, yes. Aren't they great partyers? I'm going to buy a pair of bagpipes. They're spanish, that's why! ;)
:) I.Want.To.Be.A. Flapper. I mentioned a book on them a while back didn't I? The Music Box or sumthing. They had their own culture and their own newspaper and they called men 'jelly beanz'. We might on our world-wide tour see some too! ;)
Tangled was snarky but it straightened out in the end! On movies, did you ever see Changeling? It took place in 20's as well, about a mother who lost her son. It's very moving, taut and makes you weep. Even more so because it's a true story.
Close enough. :) Early 16th century in Germany-shown by the headdress and the colors. Deep saffron and red-I like, don't you? I don't know either. And think, they had to work and walk in that! We really don't give them enough credibility.
Make way, up and coming-drum roll-:

You will blow my ego sky-high-and it's inflated enough as it it! ;) But I will be a lady and say, actually, send many, many thanks. I'd say you're a Lindt truffle, wonderfully wrapped, so, so warm on the tongue. :)
lol-but one day I will travel! Where will two lovely young ladies like ourselves go, dear Jess? Just think:
We'll go broke in England, prolly get shot in the Middle East, walk into a drug crossfire in Mexico, there's that huge crisis going on in Greece (a must see), strikes going in in South America and the French? Legit strange. ;)
I weep for humanity. But Russia! Russia is nice isn't it? Be-autiful country, full of contrasts. Or perhaps Italy. I like Italy. Mayhaps Spain- viva espana! And no, I didn't get payed to say that.
:) Right, right, my best friends they are. YES! :D
Oh me, me too! I love my dresses and that's one color I need. Oh you're- the whatcha call them-the bees knees! Fullapaz! lol I found this jazzling picture:

No I haven't actually but on the topic of princesses, did you see Tangled? Adorable. Rapunzel's 'mother' was me fave.
