    Wow! Your name came up in my list of "Members Like You," and no wonder! I love your shelf, but I also very much appreciate your discenrment. I've browsed other shelves with similar titles to mine, but the reviews are all 5-stars, making it hard to get a good recommendation. I like to follow readers who are not afraid to criticize a book, even if it is wildly popular. It makes those 4- and 5-star reviews even more powerful.

    I have been in education my entire life, so I also appreciate your eye as a teacher! If it's okay with you, I'll follow your reading and check back when I'm ready to select my next book.

    Based on your likes, I'd recommend that you check out Russell Banks; he has an amazing ability to find characters' voices that tell profound tales. I'd especially recommend "Affliction" or "The Sweet Hereafter."

    Finally, I'd encourage you to try David Mitchell. I loved "Cloud Atlas" and, for my money, his coming-of-age tale, "Black Swan Green" provides a worthy alternative to "Catcher in the Rye."
