Hi Pat! Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded The Darkest Room. But first, must finish Nicholas Nickelby. I decided to read something completely different and I had not read it yet. I love Charles Dickens!

As far as I know, everything is somewhat scary. THE WOLVES IN THE WALLS is a picture book based on something that happens in Coraline. I will double check, but I think they are all for older kids (or adults) - and of course, I haven't read them all. I think he even has written a picture book about abuse. Woo hoo. I loved Coraline and The Graveyard Book - and you know I don't like scary:)

I will check that one out. I am trying to read some of the books that are popular in the library at school or that I see kids reading in the hall. I see a lot of kids reading Maximum Ride. It's sad because the kids are freaks - the saddest parts are when they return to the labs where they do the experiments and see kids whose experiments failed. Not sure if I'll read any more, but I might. I have a LONG summer list to work through first. [br/][br/]And the class from hell is THEORY OF READING COMPREHENSION - in itself not a class from hell, but with a smart instructor who can't teach her way out of a paper bag or give clear directions for VERY LONG, HARD assignments...that was the hell part.

You've been busy. I have FINALLY finished the class from hell and submitted the paper (from the same place). I'm planning to read a LOT of stuff that is not about reading comprehension. My goal is to read the entire Rebecca Caudill nominee list this summer (along with 1,000,000 other things - it's the Illinois list of best adolescent literature. It's a blast! Love you.

yes, I also look at mystery awards - great resource. Do you know about Jen Robinson's blog? Mainly she blogs about kid lit but she is an avid mystery reader and has a section on her website with her recommendations. I've discovered some new authors there! http://jkrbooks.typepad.com/

So, you are going to town on knitting, aren't you? Would you please knit a scarf for Marc? I don't have the time:) Just kidding. When you run out of fun things to knit, I will send you some patterns for kitty toys. You can donate them to our organization. Just let me know. Love you!

All your books like great! I have to read a Lisa Wingate book for our next book club. I think she's a bit lame - very nice, sweet stories. Yawn... Then we read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society for January. Have you read that? Love you!

I'm anxious to hear what my book club friends have to say about it. We are meeting the last week of the month. I am usually enlightened by our discussions. Love you!

Good or bad, The Shack speaks to where I am right now. I just read the part about how Jesus is disappointed in organized religion and tells Mack why. I was wondering if that bothered you.

Your other reading is VERY heavy. Almost like my other reading: Theory and Research in Writing.
    Love you!

Curse of the POGO STICK? WHat's that about? I am reading The Shack right now for book club - and find it interesting. I remember you told me you didn't like it. Why not? Love you!

I didn't read that yet, I have only been able to read the books my teachers have assigned, even for summer reading we have to read the same books. I will put that on my list to read.
