Hi there! I'm just dropping by to welcome you to The 100+ Book Challenge. The idea of the group is pretty much self explanatory - try to read 100 or more books in a one year period. If you do have any questions, please feel free to send a message to me or Tenia. In the meantime, good luck reaching your goal!
I just like the depth of which I can envision Haymitch as person; how he evolved. I can imagine how he was as a child going into the hunger games (I kinda see him as a lot like Peeta, that's why Haymitch knew that it would be Katniss that came out of the games a survivor), to how he, himself, came out of the games a totally changed person and who he has become knowing that he was sending kids into the games to meet their death. As a writer, he's very interesting to me.No, I haven't read Wake, Fade or Gone; although I do want to. I have Wake but haven't read it yet. I just have too many books I want to read. I'm rereading an old book that I read in the early 80's called The Elementals by Michael McDowell. I had loaned it out and never got it back. I found it the other day on Amazon and bought it. It is an awesome experience reading this book again because it freaked me out (I was about 17) and now that I'm more desensitized, I get a different feel for his writing. It's still a really good book, very original and a fast read; but I only read at night unless it's something that I just can't put down. What are you reading now?
You ain't the boss of me.
Hi Tabetha, I loved both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire...I really can't wait for the next book to come out. One of the things I like about Collins' writing is that she says what she means in a way that's not boring. She gives description without being overly descriptive. I find myself falling in love with her characters, I especially like Haymitch's character...I'm sure he could be a lot of fun to write. My favorite character (besides Katniss) is Peeta, he is just adorable. I will admit that in the first book I didn't trust him, but he won me over in Fire.
You have a book on your shelf that I just bought the other day at a second hand store. The Divided Crown by Isabel Glass. I was wondering what you thought of it. I also see we have similar tastes in books. i would like to add you as a friend and kind of chat a little about books we've read or are reading. Thanks.
It was actually pretty good. Almost a period piece...but still relateable. I had the same hang ups everytime I saw it too. I finally just gave in and read it and was farely well surprised. I love the Anita Blake series. I own all of them. I think my fave would be Inccubus Dreams or maybe the Harliquin. Not sure. Almost a toss. Have you checked into the Merry Gentry series by Hamilton? Now that is something that can really get your blood pressure up. LOL. But those are really good too.
You should totally check out the author Sunny. She writes the Mona Lisa series. The first one is Mona Lisa Awakening. It's in the genre of paranormal romance/fiction. It's also a little racy but is really interesting. And if you haven't read Bray...check out A Great and Terrible Beauty. It's the first in its series as well. Happy reading. Let me know if you have read these books and what you think! ~Ondrea
