Apple, thanks for the friend request! I know it is tough with your husband gone. I thought that I would do just fine, but in truth I didn't. It was a wonderful lesson for me in God's plan for families-we really do need two parents in the home. Just do the best that you can each day and do not be too hard on yourself.

When I began homeschooling, almost eight years ago, nobody, not even my husband, supported the idea. Now he is completely sold on the idea, as he has seen the positive result. I suffer from frequent migraines, but we have found a way, through online and computer schooling, to work around those days, and give me time to keep up the house and meals. Many people try to recreate a workbook based public school at home. Especially in the beginning. It leads to burnout for many, works for some. We have done a number of different things and finally found our groove.

My parents have never supported the idea, but after so many years they know that this is a lifestyle for us. Their grousing hasn't stopped, but it has lessened. My courage to make comments such as, "You made your choices in raising me, now it is my turn to make choices in how to raise my children." has also helped.

Hi Apple J. Sorry for my late reply. You know, I have never seen this book among children's favorite books. I believe this book is talking to those who has passed their childhood. It is to keep them from going deep into life's customary affairs and to remind them of their bright souls. Although I am surprised to hear that it has scared your kids; I have always thought it does not attract children. What made it scary for your kids? I'm really curious to know how they had react.

Hello Apple J, I am the mother of a soldier-he is actually in the National Guard presently, but was in the Army 5 years. My dad was in WWII-Army-2ND ID, he is a D-day Veteran.
I also love to read biographies, now I'm reading mainly Christian fiction and stories from the Great Depression.
I am 45, our sons are 26 and 24. The 26 year old was in the Army, married and with 2 children ages 5 and 3. Our younger son is unmarried.
I love to read also, actually voraciously. I also blog/write. I am taking a writing course through our city now, taught by a retired professor of writing. Reading and writing keep me sane as well.
My other hobbies/interests are fitness walking and making jewelry.
How is the Virginia Woolf book? I've never read anything of hers.
Thanks for stoping by to visit!
