I am a high school English teacher. I used to read voraciously but have slowed down since having children. Lately, I've been focusing on Young Adult Sci-Fi and Fantasy because they are quick reads and I can put them down and pick them back up without losing the thread.

So excited to see your current read and definitely considering it myself as a Bennington Undergrad considering their writing master's someday :) I love their low residency fiction program it is SO cool!

That's funny, I thought just the opposite. I was a little disappointed when I first started reading that the narrator was a child. By the end of the book, I was so angry at all of the characters I could hardly finish. I wanted the whole book to take place in the room, but in truth only half of it did. I make it sound like I hated the book, but it was actually entertaining. Hope you're having a great start to the school year!

The book was okay. I wanted it to be the caliber of an Allen book, but it lacked something, so I was disappointed, but I think I may have some prejudices. It was still a fun read. My summer is going well, I hope yours is tool! I can hardly believe I won't be returning to high school next year; it seems like anything else won't be real. That said, I am soooo excited to be going to Simmons right in downtown Boston in the fall!

I think I'm going to use Mockingjay, I'm not far enough into Water for Elephants to do it on that

Well right now I am reading Swimsuit by James Patterson and it's good. I just hope it gets better. Plus I'm not used to reading first person so the style takes a little while for me to get used to.

That's no problem. I think I might just read I Am Number Four first anyways.

I haven't had time or energy to read since Rustin came home. Now that he is 8 weeks old and things are begining to normalize I am reading again. I am in the middle of Dan Savage's "The Commitment." It is hilarious. He also wrote "The Kid" another book that had me laughing out loud.

Our lives have been turned upside down in a good way since we learned that we are adopting another baby. No reading for me, just hustling. i did read unbroken over Christmas and really liked it.

I had a feeling the movie had done a good job. I just bought Alice and Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Believe it or not, I have never read it. We just recently saw the Depp version and I was curious about the original. Hope it is good.

I don't understand...I don't see you as "not nice". What order did you consume them in....book than movie?, movie than book? I'm not sure if the book will be as good since I've seen the movie....will it have ruined it for me, do you think?

Hi Jill! I stopped in at the Belmont Library today and was discussing, of course, True Blood and the Sukie Stackhouse novels with the librarian. She had the same exact opinion as you regarding the series versus the books! She recommended watching Six-Feet Under to tide you over until True Blood Season 2 is out on DVD - It's produced by the same guy.
