I am a retired but tired Library Assistant with Contra Costa County Library system in California. I retired over three years ago but have substituted continually until June 30, 2009 when I was let go along with ten other retirees who susbstituted. I am the moderator for the Concord Library Mystery Bookclub which meets on the second Sunday of the month..most months.
I have three grown sons and eleven grandchildren and now a great grand daughter. I am the only one who enjoys reading in my immediate family. I come from a mother who loved to read and introduce me to books. We both read mysteries and she loved sci fi too which I don't. I'm an armchair traveller too.
I remember as a child going to the main library in Honolulu to get books as well as at our local branch. Mysteries became my main love when I started reading Michael Innes and Agatha Christie. I also loved Alistair McLean, Desmond Bagley and Ann Bridges. I tried to read everything written by my favorite authors.
For a while I would gobble up Barbara Cartland because they were fast and had a bit of information about something in every book...such as the chimney sweeps horrible life.
I guess cozy mysteries are my favorite but I also love mysteries by Sue Grafton, Sara Paretsky, and Marcia Muller that are not cozies.
