A self-confessed bibliophile as are most on this site; voracious curiosity + wide variety of interests = information junky. ;-) My main areas of interest are religion, science, and psychology - better yet is the arena in which all three intertwine. I'm not selective about the books I put on my shelf - if I've read it or want to read it, it goes on my shelf. The only exception would be textbooks/compulsory reading - unless I find something particularly noteworthy about it, I'll generally exclude that type of book. Since I'm not selective about my shelf, a book's presence does not necessarily mean I agree with/endorse it. Rather, it means that it's a book I found valuable for discovering/forming my own belief about that topic. Or in some cases (for example, The Davinci Code), it's popular enough that I want to know what all the fuss is about, so I'll read it and decide for myself, rather than letting someone else interpret it for me. As far as fiction goes, I rate based on my overall enjoyment of the book, not necessarily the quality of the writing - so even a predictable, casual read can earn 5 stars if I really liked the story. And a higher quality piece can earn a lower rating if it just didn't grab me or "hit the spot."
I'm recently married and am living on the Oregon Coast, and am enjoying carving out a life as a writer and wife, and planting roots.
