Hello, its nice to see that we have one thing in common. I like mysteries too. I can't get into romance books. Can we be friends on here? To find out if we got anything else in common. I joined Shelfari on Dec. 20,2011

Hi silvana, I just joined shelfari.
I write journals through Mary's point of view. About this time of year she was geting ready to make the trip to Bethlehem.
"Everything is packed and ready to go. A good night's sleep would be wonderful, but I doubt if that will happen. All the pains, aches and swelling that women encounter when carrying a child have not made for good sleep companions. These last few months have been most uncomfortable."
Mary's excerpt from Jesus My Son reminds us that Mary endured a very normal pregnancy. How awesome is that!

    Hi Silvana,
It's been a while since I have gotten to visit Shelfari.
I have been reading, but I haven't had time to post.
I am curious to know where your husband lived in Iowa.
Philadelphia to Iowa is a big change. I couldn't imagine
living in a place like Philadelphia. In my mind, I imangine
people living practically on top of each other in really crowded
    conditions.
I moved to SD to get my first teaching job. The funny thing
about getting a first job--everyone wants someone with experience.
It's hard to break into the world of teaching, especially with all of
the funding cuts that are happening in education.
So, I got my first teaching job in 2003 and stayed with it
for 8 years. This past summer, my husband and I greeted our
son, got new jobs, sold our house, moved and bought a new
one closer to his family. I don't recommend doing all of that
in one summer. I am not sure how we got through all of
the changes without falling apart. I half expected to have
some sort of issues with post-partum because of all the
changes. But, my whole family made it through quite all right. :)

Tell me more about what Melbourne is like. I think Australia
would be a very fun place to visit or live. What is your weather
like? We are supposed to get our first snow storm tonight and into tomorrow.

Take care. Thanks for your notes!

    Hi Silvana,
Good to hear from you. You're a murder mystery fan of my old favourites. I like Sue grafton and her character with her little black dress and the Hungarian restaurant she visits. I used to read all Mary higgins Clarke's books but she must be an old woman now.
If I'm not in your group, add me in. I'm busy trying to promote my new book and enjoying that. Take care, Regrds, Joan

    Greetings!
Yes, I live in South Dakota. I am originally from Iowa and have only been a resident to South Dakota for as long as I have been teachings--I am in my 9th year of teaching. Iowa is humid, but full of green! IA has a lot of trees, corn and bean fields, and lush BLACK dirt. South Dakota isn't humid, when it is hot, it is just plain hot, but there aren't as many trees. There are a lot of sunflower, bean, and wheat fields out here. The soil is more dusty and not nice and rich and black.
I live in a fairly remote area. When I look out across the fields and prairies, I can picture what it would have been like for the Native Americans to be on the open plains and the buffalo grazing in the prairies. It's absolutely beautiful...and, unfortunately, it makes me homesick for IA. I just can't get over landscapes without trees and I miss the smell of the rich, black dirt. Is that weird?
It's my favorite time of year, though, when harvest is happening and I can smell the silage. It's a sweet smell that fills the air.

Okay, hopefully that painted a little picture for you...I went a little overboard.

You are quite accomplished. I am speechless to the experiences you have had.
Tell me what it is like in Australia. I would love to go one day.
    Great to hear from you!

Hi Sil. So glad to hear from you. It's been a while since we've heard from each other. I sent you a PM a few months ago, but did not hear back. Hopefully the move will take place at the beginning of the year. This are getting pushed back because of all the work on his current team. They can't afford to let anyone leave at this time. Several people have resigned and they are really backed up. I'm still working and still stressed. Going through simular issues with my job. Never a dull or quiet moment. Glad to hear you will be graduating next year. Keep up the good work Sil. Hope you're family is well. Talk with you soon.
