  • Q and A a Day: 5-Year Journal (5 Year Journal)
    • Rated 0 stars

I have been journaling since 2000 and it is one of the best gifts I give to myself. I get great joy from reading how my life has evolved, the ups and downs, the joy and the grief. December is an important month for me because I go to bookstores looking for the perfect journal for the new year. I look forward to using this next year and like the format that is offered, it will be a change and shoud be fun!

    Into the Free: A Novel

A kindle freebie that I read in 2 days. I found the story to be powerful and captivating. Set in a small town in MS we get to follow young Millie Reynolds life until she becomes a young woman of 18. The story is beautifully written and the characters are engaging and believable. Loved reading about when the gypsies came to town every spring.

Borrowed from Amazon's lending library. Richard owns his own company and is living the good life but things change very quickly. This book left me thinking there but for the grace of God go I.

  • The Snow Child
    • Rated 4 stars

Mabel is distraught after she gives birth to a stillborn child. She convinces her husband Jack they should move to Alaska and homestead. When a child shows up on their doorstep their life is changed forever.I enjoyed this book although I'm not a big fan of fairy tales. The book was beautifully written. I enjoyed the description of Alaska; the beauty of it and the challenge of living there. A story filled with love, loss, hope, depression, sadness, humor, survival. I liked the characters also, especially Esther. 3.5 stars

A husband and wife sell their chiroprator practice, home and furnishings and move to Costa Rica for a laid back lifestyle. It was funny and gave me an idea of what living in Costa Rica would be like. Easy, cheap, fun read.

  • The Eloquent Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis: A Portrait in Her Own Words (With a One-Hour DVD Insert from A&E Biography)
    • Rated 4 stars

I enjoyed this book but not so much the syle of writing, although I got used to it. I guess since it is in her words that is the only way it could be done. I learned some things I didn't know and enjoyed reading her perspective on things. She had a great sense of humor I wasn't aware of. I admire and respect her for many reasons. " He was the love of my life and a part of me died with him." ... Jacqueline Kennedy

  • The interventionist

I've seen Joani several times on Dr. Phil. She is a R.N., an interventionist and a recovering addict. I admire her for the work she is doing. A very interesting & informative book. If you know an addict whether it be alchohol or drugs you need to read this book.

  • The Hills of Tuscany
    • Rated 5 stars

I loved this book! I felt as if I were in Tuscany, made me want to pack up and move. The descritpions of the landscape, the food and the Tuscan life are wonderful. They live life at a slower pace and take the time to enjoy it, they appreciate the small things. This book has to be a favorite because it swept me away to another place. Delightful!!
