Thanks so much. One of my daughters (a member) told me this would be a better one, so I figured out how to change it, and -- voila!!

Absolutely, Linda! Also, I have so many books on my real and virtual TBR that I just can't stand spending my reading time on something that isn't worth it. Maybe I was just moody - but it certainly wasn't the right book at the right time!

    Thanks for commiserating!

    Hi Linda,
I'm glad you found it. I loved to Kill a Mockingbird as well. Great book, great movie.
I grew up in Florida and we spent a lot of time traveling through the south when I was growing up and I love books by southern writers or that are set in the south.

Glad to have you as a friend. I notice we have several books in common including The Hotel of Bitter and Sweet. I really enjoyed it. I too have read all the Maisie Dobbs books. I just finished the latest Charles Todd mystery that introduces a female protaganist, Bess Crawford, who is a British nurse during WW1. Looks like there will be future books in this series. You might like it since you enjoy Maisie.

    Linda,
I used the audio version and was deeply involved. I absolutely loved it. It was long but well worth it. I heard one of my favorite hotties is going to play the lead role.
(Johnny Depp) Can't wait to see it. If you can get it on audio and you have the time, I totally recommend it. If it drags, I did not notice it. Maybe because I was
listening instead of reading. But I have had friends read the book and never heard any negative remarks.
I bought my audio set on ebay. If you would like to borrow mine, I will gladly send it to you.

Hi Linda: A/b listening is habit-forming! I was a member of
Audible for two years (year one ~ Gold member ~ $15
    a month after the first 3 months at $8 a month/year two ~
Light member ~ $10 a year). The gold membership gave
me access to half-price sales on groupings of books on occasion.
The Light membership gave me 10/15% discounts from time
to time. When I cancelled the Gold membership, they gave
    the Light membership info.

As for free downloads, the only ones I have been able to
find are the services that are affiliated with libraries
    (OverDrive (mine)/NetLibrary/Recorded Books).

The Massachusetts library system is my main source for
all audiobook formats. I download from Barnes and Noble
    and iTunes on occasion, too.

Hi Linda, I just finished " Olive Kitteridge" so thought I would tell you what I thought of it since you're planning on reading it. It was interesting, but I have to say, not one of my favorite books by any stretch of the imagination. First of all, it's a lot of stories in one with Olive Kitteridge sort of interwoven into each story. There were parts of the book that I could not see any relevance to the rest of the story and it seemed to drag. However, I liked the last part of the book much better than the beginning. I think it's time for me to read a good, page turner mystery!

Linda, if you want to read a "laugh out loud" book get ahold of "Down Under" by Bill Bryson, it will keep you in stitches while teaching you all about Austrailia. Enjoy and READ ON...

Hi Linda, now that you are an a/b listener, be prepared to "take
the scenic route" on occasion. It is amazing what an a/b listener
will do to extend her time in the car in order to continue listening
to part of an interesting story!

I noticed something after I wrote the previous thread. Audible's
versions of the #1 Ladies' series have a different narrator. The
iTune versions have the South-African lady I mentioned.
