Thanks for connecting Howard! I vave not read any of those Lobsang books to comment on, yet. I am presently cracking open "The Reconnection" by Dr. Eric Pearl. His story quite amazes me. Author & shaman Hank Wesselman, PH.D. says, "If you read only two books this year, make sure that this jewel is one of them!" I truly agree! Happy reading, new friend. Jen

Howard India has lots more to offer then poverty and misery and I just cant read anything that portrays my country as a hell hole . I don't remember where my copy of the City of Joy is lying , gathering dust , ditto for White Tiger.

Aha Kolkata - the city of joy! A city with rich heritage ,it has been home to five Nobel laureates – Ronald Ross, Sir C.V. Raman, Rabindranath Tagore, Mother Teresa and Amartya Sen. It was founded 300 years ago out of 3 villages -- Sutanati, Gobindapur and Kolikata. Once the capital of British India, the capital of undivided Bengal and now the capital of West Bengal since Independence,it retains the aura of days long gone, weaving the past and the present, into a charming fabric.

Its a grim book you have decided to read

hi, it is a very good book specially if you want to peek into the contemporary indian thought process.DR Amartya sen is a nobel prize winner in economics..he critiques the policies of the indian government regarding agriculture and defence.and to make the whole thing more interesting he takes us back to the times of great indian kings like akbar and ashoka and says that progressive thought has always been a part of indian culture..a very good read...

    My apologies, Sona.
Journeying through the terrain of my verse
    in these rains,
    inconvenienced you
    Unseasonal are the monsoons here.
The alleyways of my poetry are frequently damp.
Water gathers often in the ditches.
If you trip and fall here, you run the risk
    of spraining a foot.

Hi Howard .. did you pick anything you liked enough to share ?

Flames always manage to mesmerize me and I end up singing feathers ..guess I will never master the art.

Till now, the lonely dawn weeps on -

    Thinking of how the world broke into pieces;

Faces that have names can be left alone to live…

Only if I cease to sleep even on a tired night…

Still, will our shores begin building the

    Bridges on stimulating slogans?

The unwilling swallow, the mysterious sands will

Be imprisoned into the ribs of a dead city, in some

Unexplored corner on this planet. Wouldn’t anybody

    Dictate the consequences then?

    Wouldn’t the meaningless talking grow?

Time told us to go on, though Time (it seems) is

Like a boat made of paper; someone even sails it.

Nevertheless, the night that has its moon

From the memory keeps on drizzling dew drops

On the fields of grief with calm affection as if,

The innocent infant will come again from the uterus

    Of honesty.

    -Here? …

    -May be…
