Hi Penny ---- I'm glad you are giving Jo Nesbo a try. I think you will enjoy his Harry Hole character and the series very much. I'm sorry your Book Group didn't select "Caleb's Crossing" but you can read it on your own. My Book Groups (The Ladies Who Lunch and The Literary Ladies) have read "Cutting For Stone" If you haven't read it , it's a good read but it is a big book. For my own pleasure, I'm reading "22 Britannia Road". It tells about a family's reuniting after WWII and through flashbacks what happen to them when they were separated. Very good so far and easy to read. What you been reading lately. Chat with you soon ---- Frances

Hi Penny ---- So you like the Kurt Wallender mysteries, too. I've read all of them and think the author is terrific. He makes Kurt so human. And I know that you ,also, liked the "Girl ...." series by Stieg Larsson. So I"m going to suggest reading Jo Nesbo's books, maybe "Nemesis" or "Redbreast". I've just read an article in my hometown paper about him and they say he was the next Henning Mankell and now he's the new Stieg Larsson. Whoever he is, he wonderful and I think you'll agree. Finally, I think it's a good idea to reccormend "Caleb's Crossing" to your Book Group. It will lead to a good discussion. Happy reading ---- Frances

Hi Penny ---- I see that you plan to read "Caleb's Crossing". So do I. I like Geraldine Brooks, and have read "March" and "People of the Book" which I really enjoyed. It had so many layers to peal away. One of the reasons I liked "The Given Day" was because it told Boston history and how the common man struggled. That and a little romance. How did you like "The Man From Beijing"? I was thinking of reading it. Should I? I haven't read any of the series you recommended so that is another thing I'll have to look into. Happy reading ---- Frances L

Hi Penny W ---- Well, we both put "Wolf Hall" down and promise ourselves we will get back to it. But when - that is the question when there are so many books to read. I'm glad that we've read "The Troubled Man" I did, too, and a loved it ,but was sorry to see the end of the Kurt Wallender Series. They were wonderful mysteries. Did you like "The girl ......" Series . the were another of my favorites and I'm sorry the author died because there won't be any more in the series. What did you think of the book "Edgar Sawtelle? Wasn't it a good read? And I thought "The Given Day" was a lovely read. ---- Frances L

Hi Penny W ---- I've read the Javier Falcon series books, too, and I've found them suspenseful and interesting. I hope you liked the book "The Ignorance of Blood" and thought it was a good read. I'm also reading or , at least , attempting to read "Wolf Hall". What do you think about this book? ---- Frances L
