Aha solved it! Boy soldier was a library book and really was a good one of the "war stories horrors genre". Yoiu really got more of the feelings of being detached from family and village and just trying to survive, without being overly dwelling on the horrors.
Somehow in the now Shelfari organization I have lost the ability to find notes you have sent. I know one was there..it flashed by quickly, now have only to find it. Being an elderly techie is tiresome!. Margaret
Loved the lemon pudding and the Sticky date pudding. The apple pancake is kind of an old standard that really is great. It is also in the cookbook I am currently reading, an Anna Olsen or Canadian living baking book. I am trying tio read recipes not eat them! It is a tactic not working.
