I'm currently finishing up a degree in environmental policy, reading a lot, knitting somewhat less, and (despite just finishing a half-marathon) getting far too little exercise. I have been to two new countries that begin with "I" in the last nine months (India and Iceland), and was colder in the first than in the second.
Amongst my favorite books are:
-Pride and Prejudice
-Jane Eyre
-The Lord of the Rings trilogy
-The Fionavar Tapestry trilogy
-His Dark Materials trilogy
-Notes from a Small Island
-The Omnivore's Dilemma
-Where the Sidewalk Ends
-the first three "Anne" books
I usually have anywhere from one to four books on the go, and a stack about twenty books deep of "books I'm going to read next".
Despite wholly appreciating the tactile joys of physical books (the smell and the used book stores in particular), I have recently acquired a Kindle. This was largely in an attempt to reconcile two conflicting urges within me: the bibliophilic desire to have and read lots and LOTS of books, and the feeling of being stifled when I own too much stuff. With a Kindle, I can have hundreds of books at hand, without the slightly-panicky feeling of being trapped by my possessions.
