I am always working on change and adjusting to the wonderful rollercoaster ride of everyday life.

My life career is elementary school counseling. I am winding down this part of my life and anticipating approaching counseling differently. I'm thinking private practice.

My parallel life is shared with my husband, James and a... more »

Kids LOVE Fragility, but I really keep this to read to some adults I know.
Don't you know someone who ALWAYS has "hurty feelings?"

What's not to love about Pinkerton? Yes, he's pushy and does always want to be first, but when he encounters the "sandwitch" he learns a valuable lesson about "me-first."

Every one who has kids should read them this hilarious story of a little bunny who never listens. Kids crack up when a pen sounds like a "hen" and "slice of bread" sounds like "slice the bed." OOOOPSY!
Actually, I know a lot of wives who may want to read it to their selectively hearing impaired husbands.

  • Jane Eyre
    • Rated 5 stars

Since first fist reading Jane Eyre at the age of sixteen, I have never lost the impact of her strength and character. Jane is the ultimate feminist. When Jane is faced with true adversity, she does not wallow in self pity. Jane chooses a course of action and sets forth to accomplish her goal. In finding a "position," she also finds love. Jane loves with a true heart and through realistic eyes. She has no false sense of Mr. Rochester, or any other person being responsible for her happiness in this life. When he fails to be all that she had trusted him to be, she is forgiving, while at the same time, always staying true to the one person she always knows she can count on...Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre stands the test of generations because Jane Eyre truly is "every woman."

If you are have never read James Lee Burke you should begin with this book. It is the first in the Dave Robichoux series.
Mr. Burkes will paint NO,LA and its surrounding Parrishes with a brush like no other. You will smell the bayou, feel the heat, and vicariously experience the intensity that only a true Cajun can give rise to.

This book is old, Adlerian (logical consequences), and a text. Having typed that, it makes sense in simple language and gives real life scenarios.
You really can parent without spanking, screaming, and saying, "I like the way didn't slap the crap out of your brother in the last 15 min., Johnny, you can have an I-Pod."

  • Seven Types of Ambiguity

After re-reading the first 70 pages about four times, I could not put this book down. There is so much going on, at so many levels, with characters that become entwined in your everyday life.
You will hate for the pages to run out.

You will either love or hate this book. I would encourage any reader to stick with until the end, where in the last moments you will say, "That did not REALLY happen!"
