Hey Tyler, I just finished it, and I agree it was pretty awesome. Plus it was the good length for the short time in between now and when we start our next book.I thought it was incredibly well done and that the author did as good job as a non-autistic person could of keeping the voice as accurate to that of an autistic person. Also, even if it weren't all that accurate, it's still a commendable thing to do. Not only is it a difficult perspective to take, but it's also an important one that's very hard for most people to understand, and a book like this makes it a lot easier for a non-autistic to get an idea of what's going on inside an autistic person's head. On top of all that, I thought it was a good story, too, and kept me entertained the whole way through. So basically, I agree, it was quite good.
At least I'll be procrastinating doing something enjoyable! NONE of my nursing textbooks will be favorites.
Chronicle of a Death Foretold is WAYYYY better en espanol mi amigo. I could teach you Spanish so you can really get the full effect. Jorge would always say "traducción es traición" or "translation is betrayl" (which doesn't sound as cool in English either). He would rant in class how the English version changes key meanings of words which ultimately takes away from the intention of the author. So if you read it soon, we should discuss. I'll review it soon too in its original format.
Okay, okay!
You've read Rebecca? It's one of my favorite books ever. I am trying to get more on here. I may or may not have just gone through your list to add the ones I have read O:-)
I loved Empire Falls -- the whole mill town experience -- Westbrook could have been a setting as so many towns in Maine could. As you can tell I don't get to my email often. I will look for your recommendation: A Long Way Gone. Library access is a big bonus to my job.Hope things are well. I'll check out your shelf soon.Donna
Wow. Wow.
I have no hope of keeping up. Just looking to ride your collective coattails to great literature.
Hey, Ty! I'll try to keep up!
