Darden North, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who lives in Jackson, Mississippi, where he practices medicine at Jackson Healthcare for Women, PA. He and his wife Sally have two young adult children, as well as two dogs and a grand dog. North’s first novel HOUSE CALL (hardcover 2005, paperback 2007) was awarded Finalist in Mystery/Suspense by the 2008 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. His second novel POINTS OF ORGIN (hardcover 2006) received third place in Southern Fiction in the 2007 Independent Publishers (IPPY) Book Awards. His third novel, FRESH FROZEN, was released in hardcover in October 2008 and received Winner in Best Cover Design and Finalist in Regional Fiction in the 2009 National Indie Excellence Awards; Honorable Mention in General Fiction in the 2009 San Francisco Book Festival Awards; and Finalist in Best Cover Design (Fiction) and Finalist in Regional Fiction in the 2009 New Generation Indie Book Awards. All three novels have been nominated in Fiction by the Mississippi Institute for Arts and Letters and by the Southern Independent Book Association.
North is a member of Mystery Writers of America, the Mississippi Writers Guild, Sisters in Crime, and the Independent Book Publishers Association. He has participated as an author panelist in such literary presentations as “Murder in the Magic City” (Birmingham, AL), "Author! Author! Celebration of the Written Word" (Shreveport LA), “Murder on the Menu” (Wetumpka, AL), and “Thriller Author Panel – 2008 SIBA Trade Show” (Mobile, AL). Darden North has exhibited at the 2005 Texas Book Festival; the 2007 Kentucky Bluegrass Book Festival; the 2006 Southern Independent Book Association in Orlando, Florida; the 2007 Mississippi Library Commission; and the 2008 South Carolina Book Festival. More than 50 television and radio stations in several states have interviewed him, while reviews of his novels have been published in more than 20 magazines and newspapers. North has appeared at over 100 book signings or public speaking engagements and remains available for appearances.
