Hi! I haven't been reading that much lately, still in a reading funk :P But, I just finished Jane Erye for the second time, it's one of my favorite books and followed it by Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte. I really liked that book as well. Anne wrote it as a semi-autobiographical novel, using her and her sisters' experience as governesses and some of the families they actually worked for as a basis on the characters in the book. I sort of have given up on Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte for now, but I'll give it another try some other time.

I don't mind that Boston won the cup that much. The guy who owns the team is from Buffalo, Jeremy Jacobs. Supposedly there's a rule in football that you cannot own a team in another city, but I hope that's changed with the new labor agreement settled by the NFL strike. If Ralph Wilson were to die, Jeremy Jacobs would probably have enough money to buy the Bills, I think. I agree with you though, it is probably time that a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup. I'm sure that they wish that more than anything, seeing as how they invented the game and are totally rabid about their sport. It's been a long time since one of their teams have won the Cup.

My daughter read Chocolat and liked it okay. She said that for once, the movie was actually better than the book! I hope you can pick it up and finish it, I hate leaving books unfinished, like Wuthering Heights, but I will go back to that one day, just not anytime soon. How was the book, In the Time of Butterflies and Red Riding Hood? I'm thinking of reading The Eyre Affair next, which my daughter just finished.

Talk to you soon and happy reading :)

Hi Juliana! Sorry about taking so long to get back to you, it's just that I haven't been in a reading mood lately and haven't been on Shelfari very much. In fact, I have been scolded by Shelfari, telling me that I am behind my pace from last year! Pretty nervy, huh!

I don't really remember if the bat and the fog were all in one game or not, I just know that they both happened in the same series. Actually, be glad you weren't alive back then, in the 70's because then you would be in your late forties or early 50's now ;) I think you're right or hope anyway that Pegula will make good changes for the Sabres that will bring a Stanley Cup earlier rather than later.

It is kind of funny how they have the followers and following stuff. I thought it was weird, but my daughter kinda liked it. Oh well.... Have you joined Goodreads yet? I joined about a month and half ago or so, but I haven't been back there in awhile. Shelfari is a little easier to use and as I said before, I really haven't been reading that much. The last book I finished before Three Seconds by Roslund & Hellstrom, a very good book by two Swedish co-authors by the way, was three weeks ago. I don't know why, I just wasn't that interested in picking up a book to read :(

Hope things are going well with school and your job. Take care and hopefully talk to you soon :)

Hi! Sorry for the late response :( I've done that, accidentally re-posted a message before....it happens ;)

I'm glad the job at JC Penney isn't all that bad. I agree that dealing with people all day sucks. Most of the time it does for me anyway. People who go to the supermarket expect and ask for so much. Paper and plastic sucks and so do the recyclable bags that don't have loops on them! I actually liked retail pretty much, at least you got to walk around instead of just standing in one place for a long time, and you aren't timed on how fast you can cash people out.

Anyway, so far Wuthering Heights has been pretty good. The first part of the book was a little hard to get through, but now it is starting to get interesting. The last few books I've read were the first and second Sherlock Holmes stories, which I loved. I read two Tess Gerritsen books before that that were really creepy. I love a good mystery.

I'm glad you didn't have to dorm. I guess it can be fun though... or a nightmare, depending on your own experience, and having friends sure helps. Communication/ graphic design sound interesting.

It doesn't look so good for the Sabres right now. I mean losing at home!!!! What's up with that! Let's hope they can make a comeback. I'm old enough to remember the Sabres playing the Flyers in the 1975 Stanley Cup playoffs with the French Connection! I don't know if you've ever heard about one of the games where they played in fog and Rene Robert swatted an actual bat with his hockey stick. Go Sabres!

I just wanted to tell you that my real name is Lynn. This was one of the first sites that I had ever joined so I didn't want to use my own name. Silly, huh! Now I'm on Facebook and have added so many people that I don't really know because I play Farmville, and you need neighbors to build up your farm :P

Hope to talk to you soon and I hope the Sabres can beat the Flyers!

Hi! I'm glad that you invited me to join the group, Get Rid of the Amazon Sign-in. I don't like that either. I hope enough people join up so that Shelfari takes notice. A friend of mine had to start her account all over again trying to get out of the Amazon sign in. Both she and my daughter like the site Goodreads right now and go there more often than Shelfari. My daughter keeps telling me I should join that reading group because they have contests and questionnaires, whatever, that make it more fun. I haven't joined yet, though.

I used to work at JC Penney, it wasn't a bad job. I've certainly had worse! Making money is a great benefit as well :) I work at Wegmans three days a week during the day and have my evenings free to read or watch TV. I wish I could go back to school, but it's not in the cards :( I hate Wegmans, I work as a cashier, but at least they pay me well and I pretty much make my own hours!

I haven't read Frankenstein yet. Are you enjoying it? I read the first book by Stephenie Meyer, but haven't finished the trilogy. Maybe I will someday, but I doubt it, I have so many more books I would actually like to read. I haven't read anything by P.C. Cast, so I don't know what his/her writing is like.

It's cool that you are going to Buff State! My daughter went there for 2 1/2 semesters. She didn't know what she wanted to do and tried a bunch of different things before deciding on Anthropology. She dormed there the first year and did go to a lot of places with her friends and had fun. Are you going to dorm? Alix decided that she wanted to go to UB, because she wanted to go to a bigger school. She graduated with an Anthropology degree and is now going for her Masters in Library Science. Do you know what you want to do?

It does seem like the Sabres try harder when they are playing better teams. Sometimes if a team thinks they are that much better than the other team they don't work as hard as they should. Usually it works for a"Super Team", but not if you're just a middling or mediocre one. Anyway, let's hope the Sabres get into the playoffs! We just might have to threaten them with their paychecks ;)

I haven't gotten very far in Wuthering Heights, so far I have spent a lot of time reading the introductions and have pretty much just started the actual book. It seems okay to me right now anyway. I read another book, when I'm home and Wuthering Heights when I go out. I got a Kindle for Christmas and don't really want to take it out because I'm afraid of dropping it. The Stone Cutter is a book about family secrets, abuse and it goes back and forth in time, starting with a granite cutter and how he comes to marry a woman above his station. She gets pregnant and her wealthy father forces her to marry the stone cutter, so she hates her husband, father and the twin children that she bears and blames everyone else for her problems. Time moves forward to the present, a little girl is found drowned and the characters that were introduced in 'The Ice Princess", Erica Falck and Patrik Hedstrom are involved. Patrik is a policeman and Erica knew the little girl. The first book was the best because Erika has just been relegated to being a wife and mother, whereas before she was the main character and acted like an amateur sleuth and helped solve the case. I am not as interested in Patrik being the main man! It's a Swedish novel and was pretty good all in all, though it didn't take much to figure out who the bad guy was. I haven't read Chocolat, but my daughter has. Anyway, sorry for being so long winded as always, but I have to go now. Talk to you later!

Hi! I haven't been on Shelfari in a while. One of the last books I read, "Harbour" by John Ajvide Lindqvist took me some time to get through. It's hard to describe, it was a good book, a little scary and creepy too, but it was slow going. After that, I read "The Keepsake" by Tess Gerritsen which I really liked. It's funny how different American authors are compared to the way Swedish, British and other Scandinavian novelists write. I mostly like crime fiction and some fantasy/sci-fi and horror. It seems like the Swedes and Brits take the time to really delve into their characters and in the storyline as well. Crime fiction cases take longer to solve and sometimes it feels like you are on a real police investigation! Which isn't always a good thing because it makes for a much slower plot. "The Keepsake" was by an American author and it seemed liked the plot really moved along and the case was solved much quicker. Sometimes that's all I want in a book is just to be entertained and go along for the ride! I'm not saying that all American authors are like that, mostly mystery writers are though.

I'm sorry about Borders going out of business too :( That was my favorite book store as well! I liked that you could go and listen to music, have some coffee, look for movies to buy and have tons of different topics of books to choose from. I don't really like Barnes & Noble as much because they rarely have books on sale and the prices of their music and movies are just ridiculous! They also don't cover as many different topics as Borders does or have as much stock in those sections either! I buy most of my books now at library sales or on Amazon or go to Talking Leaves on Elmwood. If you pay $5.00 a year, you get an extra 10% off your book purchases at Talking Leaves. It's really cozy there and Cafe Aroma is conjoined with the book store. Cafe Aroma makes the best Chai tea latte around! Besides, I like supporting a local, independent book store. There aren't too many of those around anymore.

I don't mind if they keep Lindy Ruff as head coach for now. I hope that a Stanley Cup will be here in our future too. The sooner the better, eh! :P I would love to see the Bills win a Super Bowl too. More than anything!! Let's hope both teams win the ultimate prize in their respective leagues. Soon!

Right now, I'm starting Wuthering Heights and reading The Stone Cutter by Camilla Lackberg. What are you reading? Well, it's getting late and I have to get up early for work so I'll talk to you later.

    Happy reading!
