    hi deborah,
went to see mum today. its two weeks since i last went because of the snow and ice. mum didn't want anyone today, not even her favourite carer. she turned her back on us, so i just put the toiletries on a shelf and left. she could be totally different next week.
i have got through quite a lot of books so far this year - 16! just finished secret ot lost things by sheridan hay and am going to start the search by nora roberts. i am becoming a fan of nora roberts books. chris went shopping last week and came back with five of her books. one of them i have got on my wishlist but haven't bought yet. she has been listening to my versions but thought she would let me know what she thinks before i buy it.
going to the musical legally bonde thursday with chris. we have the film on dvd so i am intrigued to see how they have made it into a musical. will let you know if you are interested.
lots of hugs from me to you.

was too tired to see the new year in. went to bed early even for me. i am waking up around 5 o'clock in the morning and can't get back to sleep so lay there listening to a book.
i got throught 83 books last year and doubt i will get anywhere near that amount this year. i have a lot of long books to listen to.

    Hi Deborah:
Just thought I'd pop by and say a quick Hi, hope you had a good Christmas with family, friends and good books. Christmas # 2 without Perry, better this year, I feel more at peace about it. Had lots of family for dinner over, kept me busy and couldn't have asked for better company. Busy time, great to now have my youngest daughter back home with her daughter. Seems scholorships only last so long before you feel the need to come home again! Two degrees and counting, I think she will still be in school when my granddaugher in grade one graduates high school! Envy speaking, I would love to be able to do the same, and when I finally retire, I just might, who knows eh!! ?? Happy reading, drop me a line when time allows.

    hi deborah,
hope you are better now in time for the christmas celebrations.
yes we do a lot of shopping online throughout the year. grocery shopping weekly and other things when we need them. most of the christmas presents are bought from amazon or in my case les and chris gave me money to buy from audible which is now part of amazon. the only time we go shopping is if its not delivered from the store or its cheaper somewhere else.
i have done a lot of listening to books lately but last thursday went with chris and charles to watch the musical the company at the crucible theatre. from the place we sat you look down onto the stage and i wan't very keen on that, maybe i have a height problem now as well. i thought if it was really good i would get totally involved in the action and forget about the height. unfortunately it was the worst musical i have seen. the music was terrible as was the acting and singing. chris and me came away at the interval. couldn't face another one and a half hours of it. charles stayed to see the rest but didn't say much about it when he came sat. to visit us. oh well you win some, you loose some. the next we go to is in january next year. sounds ages away until you realise 1st jan. is only 11 days from now.
jill is cooking christmas dinner again this year for us. it was really lovely last year.
best wishes for christmas and the new year.
    lots of hugs
    your friend karen.

    hi deborah,
so sorry to hear you are ill with the flu. i hope you are feeling a bit better now. i know it takes about a month to get over it.
my mum wouldn't have the flu jab after all her friends got really ill after having it and that's over eight years ago. they know not to give it her at the home. i had asked her about it when she was alright when she first went into the home but she said no so i stick with her wishes. all she gets it a cold now and again and urine infections.
went to see her thursday but she was in bed and all she wanted to do was go to sleep so we left and went shopping.
i used the yellow lens tuesday and it worked, cut down the glare a lot, so i am pleased. can go shopping in the supermarket now and not feel ill. won't be going much until after christmas as i don't like crowds and the angst they give off this time of year. i pick up on people's emotions. chris does too.
lots of hugs to help you through
    your friend karen.

    hi deborah,
a month since i wrote, i am so sorry to have taken so long in replying to your note but not much has been happening my end until last week when les and me went to see jill in the play. it was called sand castles and the setting was a beach at the coast. not really a play i would have chosen for this time of year. anyway there were three beach huts on the stage which three families owned. they took their holidays in the resort every year and used the huts for storing deckchairs etc. the area in front of the huts wasn't owned by them and this area became a bone of contention between them and other people on the beach. this is where the comedy was to come into it. jill said she had only got a small part but i thought it was a reasonable one as she hasn't had much time to go and learn the script. she was intent on passing her driving test. naturally i thought she was good in the part she played, i'm her mum after all.
the next evening i went to see somewhere over the rainbow, a musical about judy garland's visit to london before she married mickey deans. i had totally forgotten i was going to see this play. nearly all the action was in a hotel room with judy and mickey arguing most of the time as she was wanting drugs and he was determined she wasn't going to have any. there were funny bits in it. the other bits were at the talk of the town where she sang to an audience. i knew the actress had to be really good to pull off both the acting and of course the singing and she really was. she must have been exhausted when she finished the performance as she was on the stage all the time. i am so glad i went to see it.
i am way behind in putting books on my shelf. bought a lot in all the promotions audible have been having lately. got some for only £5.99 which in some cases is cheaper than the printed version.
chris has been doing the christmas shopping for me and some grocery shopping as well. i don't like the crowds and now i have another problem, the flourescent lighting in the supermarkets. for some reason it makes me feel ill. i went to the hospital and now have a tinted contact lens to try to cut down on the glare. hope it works.
hope you enjoyed thanksgiving. (not sure of the date).
lots of hugs from your friend karen.

    hi deborah,
yesterday went with chris and charles to watch one day when we were young in the studio which is part of the crucible theatre. there wasn't a stage just an area surrounded by seating for the audience. was surprised to see people bringing in the props and the actor and actress getting made up and dressed to one side of the area. it rather added to the play instead of taking away from it. it started out in the second world war and musical interludes whilst they were changing the props and getting ready set the scene for the next parts. it went from him being called up to them meeting again in later years. she had promised to wait for him but had married someone else when there had been no replies to her letters. the final scene was where they were old and had come together once more for what may have been the last time, she now being a widow. the actor was really good.
i remember pumping milk for chris, unfortunately didn't make any for jill. had to rely on someone els's through the period she spent in the icu. went a bit further through the pregnancy with jill.
audio books can be really expensive that's why i was pleased to find download books from audible. i still buy a few audio cd books but have set myself a limit on what i am prepared to pay for a book. there has been a sale on at audible so have bought a lot from them. most of them are birthday presents and some will be christmas presents for me. there always seems to be a book dought when it comes to my birthday, which is today 13th, and christmas too. the time of year i will get round to listening to them is a different matter. nearly finished all the stories i burned to cd. only two more to go after the one i will probably start today.
    lots of hugs
    your friend karen.

    hi deborah,
i have been busy listening to books. chris has been borrowing some too.
i didn't know your daughter had twins. are they identical, boys, girls or one of each?
we went to the lyceum theatre to see fascinting aida, a comedy folk group. jill found them on youtube so we went to see a show when they came to sheffield. i liked the political song most although there was a really good one a bout missing friends.
next week i'm going to see a play, can't remember what it is but will let you know if it is any good if you are interested.
gosh two weeks since you wrote, where is time going to. will next year before i know where i am.
we have had a week of hot weather, into the 80's one day - a record for october. now its back to normal october weather, rain and cold.
can't say winter is my favourite season. i'm frightened of falling because of ice and snow. rumours there will be snow before christmas like last year. hope its not up to my knees this time.
i finished a book today and i'm off to start another. i'm on my own this evening, les and chris have gone out and there isn't anything of interest of the t.v. these days.
    lots of hugs.
    your friend karen.

    he deborah,
so glad to know you are alright.
here its getting more like winter every day. what happened to autumn?
chris has got tickets to go and see anton and erin in january next year. enjoyed their performance so much at the beginning of this year i am thrilled they are coming back again.
got a few plays to see this season as well as seeing jill in a play in november, otherwise not much happening here. i am spending a lot of time listening to books as there isn't much on the television i am interested in at the moment. a series i was watching has now finished so will wait to see what they put on in its place next week.
at the moment chris is watching west wing she bought on dvd some time ago. i thought she had already watched some but the cellophane was still on the boxed set.she is enjoying it.
    lot of hugs.

hey deborah thanks for that. me? forget you? never! I have finnally got around to watching my complete west wing box set and I'm hooked. am I right in rhinking that you recomended "greys anatomy" to me a while back? i aks as they are showing it from the begining later this week over here.

I went the cinema over the weeked to see friends with bennefits it a rom come with justin timberlake and one of the co stars of black swan ( cant remember her name) it was a light film with some well observed points about relationships. I felt the film was slow to start but still worth a watch. I also thought it was a shame they didnt go into a bit more depth on father son relationships as timberlerlakes father in the film had altzimers, but perhaps they wanted to keep it light?

How are you your babies and family?

how is the weather where you are ? here it is changable. as i type its trying to brighten up after raining but i have a feeling the rain has set in for the day, looks like ill get wet one way or the other. hey ho! the joys of england! lol
