Hello i love to read/write/dance/and photograph things. :]

I love...
-the dead of winter. When it's really cold outside and the whole family just stays bundled up, next to the fireplace, and drinks hot cocoa. Then afterwards, one by one everyone jumps into the jacuzzi.
-the beach. the sand in between your toes and the sun...more »

I'm sorry ! I am horrible at correspondence. . . especially since I've been so caught up in reading the latest Stephanie Meyer book, Breaking Dawn. I just finished it tonight! Before that, I was reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I had previously read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (her sister) and wanted to make a comparison. Thanks you for the lovely compliment! I have been working in a library for a few years, so it's a real advantage in sorting out the good from the bad. Even picking around a bit, it's free ;)

I see you're a Twilight reader! They're irresistable, aren't they? I also see you've read The Perks of Being a Wallflower: excellent book. Also, Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry was one of my favorites growing up. Is J.D. Salinger's Freddy and Zooey any good? I've wanted to read that. . . hmmm...

Hope you are having a great time. Breaking Dawn is AMAZING I hope you are getting a copy!

Definitely not my favorite author. Don't know if I could ever pick one. But her work influenced me so much and has spoken to me a lot during my life.

Hi Brittney, I will slowly be adding the books to my shelf after the sale which is in the middle of June. It is at my local library. It happens to be the biggest sale of this kind for the county and is considered the best in the state. I've seen tour bus loads show up on opening day! The prices haven't changed for 20 years and they are very proud of it. A lot of libraries have these type of sales. I would contact your local library and see if they offer one.

Thanks so much for your kind note about Pieces! I love that people are writing me about the book so many months after it first came out, especially since most of the notes I'm getting now are about my second book, and Pieces (I think because it was my first) is really the one closest to my heart.

I really appreciate your suggestion. I know there aren't as many books as there should be written about minorities or the gay lifestyle. Almost all are actually written by people who have experienced the culture firsthand--and there are some wonderful books out there. (Although for some reason, I think writers of gay fiction are almost always men...I can't think of any women offhand? I wonder why...) I'm sure it must be frustrating, though, not having enough books you can directly relate to, that reflect your life.

I do have two books that haven't been picked up, one about a mixed race family--set partially in South Africa--which deals directly with the post-apartheid era, and racism in both SA and the US. The other book includes a gay character, although not as the protagonist. I guess I'm a little worried about being able to accurately reflect those experiences. I can sympathize, but not empathize, if you know what I mean, so that makes it much harder to write from those perspectives.

Anyway, thanks again for writing, and for your kind words about Pieces of My Sister's Life.

Thanks - and good luck with your own writing.
