Picture changed on 8/18 - my beloved Phin, who was very happy to have me back home after 2 weeks on vacation!
Update: I am an Aunt again! Hurray! Noah Jude was born on July 2, 2009. Everyone is happy and healthy. Will be heading up to meet Noah in a couple weeks. These days I spend lots of time on Facebook...any friends on there? Look me up if you are. Happy Reading!
I grew up in bookstores...I worked in every single one from Walden's to Barnes and Noble while I was growing up. My mother owned a used bookstore in my hometown of Utica, NY, while I was in high school. Those were the best days of my life. I feel at peace when I'm surrounded by books...this is a good and bad thing, since I currently am running out of places to put all my books.
"The worst thing about new books is that they keep us from reading the old ones". -Joseph Joubert
"Books, like friends, should be well and carefully chosen".
-Samuel Patterson
"What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though." CITR
My "wish list" keeps growing since Shelfari has taken the place of my smoking addiction. It helps having a mother who works part-time in a used bookstore and who brings you books daily...she's the best. If any of you are in the Raleigh-Cary area check out the store. It's called Mr. Mike's Used Books and it's in Cary, NC.
My likes: time spent with my family...especially my niece Lydia and my nephew Samuel, dogs, most cats, a rainy day, S'mores, The Beatles, Snoopy, starting a book you just can't put down, peace and quiet, my mom's cooking, the smell of the beach, a clean kitchen, scrap booking, John Cusack, old movies, new movies, 80's music, lip gloss, chocolate, monkeys, quoting from books, movies and friends, Lifetime TV, Jericho and Lost, Netflix (my 2nd addiction), trout fishing, random acts of kindness, clean sheets and hope....
Dislikes: people who have to have the last word, copy cats, waiting, people who don't use a turn signal, bad drivers, people who are NEVER happy, people who don't realize how lucky they are, animal abuse of any kind, the Discovery Health channel, anything that takes me away from time spent with my family, any kind of noise, people that won't accept "friend requests"...who couldn't use more friends??
I currently live in Cary, NC, in a townhouse with my dog, Lola, 2 cats, Phin and Sadie, and my fish, McGill. I'm permitted to share the home with them provided their breakfast, lunch and dinner are NEVER late. :-)
