No I haven't read the first one. No I haven't read that book about Jimmy Carter. That must be his new one. Bruce said he had another one out. I like most of his other books. He seems to have some good reasonings. I didn't care so much for the one about his mother. The part where he talked about her life was interesting, but he sort of got off track further into the book. I will have to look into that one. Right now I'm reading "Lost Symbol" and "Enough". Enough is over my head, but I'm hoping I learn some helpful things from it. I finished reading "The Power of Respect". I'm leading an adult Sunday Class next month on respect so it had some interesting things to add to my church material on the subject. I'm a little nervous about leading this class because it is not my "thing", but I hope it goes well because I feel there is so much lack of disrespect in our world today. Nice hearing from you. Linda
I'm rereading Recovering Charles. It is good. Two different story lines going, both very good.
Have you heard of Lemon Tart? I keep hearing about it, but know nothing other than it has been recommended to me to read. Mike said you just finished a good book. What was it?
wow mom your my only friend that goes on reg.
I think what happens is I check it on MySpace. We have an application so I don't go to Shelfari much except to update my read list. This one really is me and I was on today. Happy New Year to you and the family. Are you so excited about Obama... just hours to go now.
You're right- not a ton of free time to play on the computer. Ian's so much fun! Thanks for the message. :)
Hi Paula, We are Aunts again! Thanks for hooking me up with the shelf. It was on my list of things to get to, not high but there. Thanks for giving me the push. Getting ready for school to start in a couple of days.Pat
Paula, Did you get my note about the Postville incident.I really liked A Thousand Splendid Suns. It was very sad, but he wanted to write what life for women is in their home country. Linda
Paula -So fun to hear from you! Wow - Pillars was intense! I read it for a book club (the woman suggesting it hadn't read it) and we managed to discuss it for an hour while ignoring the obvious! We decided that if it had been written by a woman we would all have enjoyed it more. I thought the story was compelling, but it took me 500 pages before I couldn't put it down. Anyway - I LOVED the Big Stone Gap books! I really love this author too - Rococo wasn't nearly as good as the others. Brittany Atkinson read the first one and commented on there being some language - that I just don't remember. I might enjoy southern based fiction more than you since I'm not a native, but I thought these were such fun and real stories. Can't wait to see Jenna soon! -Barb
Paula,It has been to long ago (and to many books in between!LOL) for me to remember the Red Tent. I really liked the Orson Scott Card book a lot. I read them as we were reading the OT in Sunday school so it made it come alive for me. I think you might like it better than the Red Tent. I have it if you want to borrow it just let me know.
Paula, I just finished reading EAT, LOVE, AND PRAY. I was a little disappointed in this book. I guess maybe it wasn't something that I was particularly interested in. Linda B.
Paula,I just finished reading The Kite Runner. It was excellent. It is very sad in places, but a very different story.
Paula! I have been trying to add "the green book" to my shelf for awhile, I could never find it. I was going to try again today, no joke, and it came up on my page first thing, in your recent activity! I was so excited! It's a great book. Thanks for planning to read it so I could add it to my shelf!
Hi Paula,You're reviews are fun to read! Though you haven't reviewed "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter." I'm not loving it, but I've only read a little so far. In your opinion, is it worth continuing?
Hello Paula! Thank you for inviting me to your library! I always look forward to your recommendations! You can check out my Shelf, too. xxoo, Tami
P.P.s. Thanks for your review on Artemis Fowl. I think we'll go ahead and start as soon as Kass is done with Little Women. You are a die hard reviewer girl! Thank you for being so diligent in your reviews-I love to pick your brain!!!
Hey Paula B! I think we might be on at the same time. Can I just say that you're way too smart for me. I just read your Red Tent review and I've read your others too, and you are a walkin' dictionary! No wonder you and Ann can talk for hours. You're the only two that can understand eachother's vast vocabulary. ;) Happy reading! p.s. Miss seeing your face in Primary.
Hey Paula,Philippa Gregory's great. I had no idea how much I would love literature about the royal families of Europe. Fascinating! It's fiction, but it's written with a lot of factual history in mind. Did you like, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter? I read about 60 pages, months ago, but it wasn't holding my interest, so I put it down. I know some books start out slow, though. Is it worth picking up again?
Hey Paula! Fun weekend, huh? I can't wait for the real deal in May! Just FYI, I kinda hated Memoirs of a Geisha. It's interesting, but the main character, by the end, makes me crazy! I dunno, lots of people liked it, so maybe it was just me!
