I'm a full-time editor and graphic designer and love to read in my free time. I particularly like escapism, which means I tend to read a lot of fantasy literature. I'm always looking for something new and good though... I'm open to suggestions.

Slow beginning and rushed ending were my biggest complaints about this book, but the meat of the story was good and interesting.

There was enough mystery in this book to keep it interesting, but there were also several elements that were so unbelievable that it made it hard to take the book seriously. Great character development, though the book left me hating almost all of them in the end. Still though, interesting read.

While the writing in this book was good and it had its funny moments, I felt like it was just trying too hard to be funny and gay, and it took me a long time to read because I wasn't motivated to pick it up and move forward. Still, there were really sweet and beautiful moments in this book, and they made it worth the read.

This beautiful book made me cry while being simultaneously life affirming. It made me want to fall in love again and appreciate every moment and detail of every day. Simply wonderful.

A book about a girl who disappears for 20 years, then suddenly returns looking like she hasn't aged at all. She says she was "away" for only six months and has a fabulous tale about being in fairy land that is questioned through the eyes of her loved ones and a psychologist the entire story.

I really enjoyed this read and went through it quickly, although I wish I could have learned more about Tara in the end. This story is reminiscent of Among Others, and that made me love it even more.

This is my second read by Guy Gavriel Kay, and I'm continually awed by his scope of storytelling and the amazing and strong characters who lead his books. The strong women in this book were especially impressive. And while the brutality was sometimes overdone, I walked away from this book with a great love for the story and characters.

A book written in the 50's about space travel, the time lag between earth and space travel and twin/family mind reading. The story was really interesting as far as looking at what happens between a set of twin brothers over the time lag, as well as what happened when the ship landed on two foreign planets. I think the problem was that those "adventures" were really just side stories to the larger idea of time lag and mind reading. I wish those had been played up a bit more. And then of course the ending was disappointing, though it made sense in the context of the story. Still though, a good, short SF read.

The author takes principals of Taoism and explains them through the stories and characters of Winnie the Pooh. They're relatable and the story is... cute? Either way, when I got to the end of this short book, I wanted to go sit out in the sun, turn off my phone and take it all in.

While I felt like it took a while for the momentum of this book to really get going, once Marina met the Bovenders, this story took off into something that was sometimes beautiful and sometimes horrifying. And while I felt like there were still things I wanted to know more about, in the end I really enjoyed this book and almost wish I could go back to the rainforest with Marina.
