Okay, I went back to Mrs. Dalloway and tried again. This addition has a good introduction and I'm completely drawn in. It's an excellent novel of inner monologue, surface, depth and madness of modern (1925) human existence.
where's LoLo? Doesn't SHE read? :-)
Describing V. Woolf's writing as meticulous is spot on. I enjoy her essay writing in Room of One's Own so much more than her fiction. Still haven't gotten through Mrs. Dalloway. Just like with Nabokov, I've enjoyed her short stories.
Just send me the first one, I don't read nearly as fast as you do! I'll read The Gift, if you want to be rid of it, too...but I think that Pale Fire sounds so much more compelling in the Nabokov oeuvre. I've only read his short stories, which are of course, short. ;)
That settles it: I'm going for The Golden Compass next.
Oh, and to answer you question from days ago: I put books that I'm reading right now onto my "Reading List" shelf. What's on your nightstand right now?
Sarah, you're the queen of fantasy books! :) Where are all the Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite books?
Hi! I love this thing. I keep on forgetting to actually get all of the names of the books I like. These were just off the top of my head. I LOVE this thing....cuz I never know what to read next. So, if I randomly find an author I like I tend to read tons of their stuff...but then I don't know what to read next. So..thank you for adding me! It's something else I am going to be addicted to...:0)
I'm completely hooked! Thanks for inviting me.
you're so funny with your Fantasy books. You know I'm the gal that can't make it through my New Yorker, much less an ENTIRE book?! But, I will play. I've actually been cleaning out my office/bookshelves, so I'll add some stuff. We painted the guest room over the weekend, so it's prettier for guests. You guys come visit us, now!xo J.
