I love Coraline and anything Neil Gaiman. He is fantastic. Katherine said that she is writing a new book that has magic in it, set in the early 1900s in Boston and dealing with a number of social issues including women's rights. It sounds awesome. Most of what she said about the book was that the ideas came from her thesis, like she says on her website.
Hey Jackie - You're in!!! Our next book is going to be The Friday night Knitting Club. If you are still interested Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for the details.
Also the House of Knight series is by P.C. Cast titles include Chosen, Hunted, Marked, Betrayed. I think the first in the series which is still ongoing is Marked! If you liked the twilight series you will like this!
Hope you can join us! Look forward to meeting you!
Hey Jackie - we meet at my house next week - I will present adding you as a new member to the group then. I make no promises as the members are all original members and yours is the first request we've had for someone else to join. WE have lost a few members tho - so I don't foresee any problems. I will let you know what we decide next week and if yes will let you know the next book, meet date and address! I hope this works out! My take is new blood is always good!
Hi Jackie, Always great to find another lover of books. I, too, read JLS in gradeschool, and have been recently intoduced to young adult stories, i.e., potter, twilight, school of knight (which is currently my fav). I am going to check out some of the other authors you mention to expand my horizons. Our book club meets once every other month. It rotates on a volunteer basis who hosts and the person hosting picks the book and leads the discussion. We are a very chatty group and very often we don't stay on topic. For most of the women in this group it is a social outlet. We had one member drop cause we weren't serious enough and didn't get deep enough into the books. Different people are looking for different things from book clubs. I am telling you this before I ask the group if they would be interested in adding a new unknown member so you can decide if we are even your kind of group. The farthest hostess is up in Jackson and another in west allis - all within reasonable driving range for you. But as I said I have to present it to the group. Let me know if you think we might be a good fit! If not it would still be great to chat about new authors and books! We just read Pope Joan which was excellent!
