I enjoy reading an assorted variety of books. Fantasy, classics, suspense, mystery, gothic, romance (yes I am a sap), horror and an occasional "kids" book (I still am one despite the gray hair). I read what suits the mood at the moment.

It was okay...Nothing extreme or anything.I think I would have liked it more if I had mor time to read in peace...Because I stop then read again beacuse of my busy schedule..]It was okay...I'm going to read it again someday and when that day comes, I'll like it more than I do now...haha!

I loved "The Pearl" by Steinbeck too. I enjoyed Hawthorne's "Scarlett Letter." I've never been able to read "The House of Seven Gables." It just seems so heavy, wordy.

You are not on mine either. I probably deleted yours....I recently deleted about 50 former students and probably deleted yours too by accident. I'll send you a request.

You know how in high school lit classes you have to read a lot of short stories by the great writers? Well, it showed me some authors are not for me, like Hawthorne, Steinbeck, Hemmingway!

I sure did. I forgot to write you back when I finished. I really enjoyed it. I didn't think I would like it as much as the other two. I thought what I liked most were the stories about "the good old days".....but I guess it must just be his writing! He alternates between stories about his own father and stories about him fathering his stepson. He shows the other side of his dad (with stories from that side of the family) I would move it up to the top of your TBR pile!
With that said....my husband started it and didn't even get a quarter of the way through before he quit it. He said he was enjoying it, so maybe he just needed a break. : )
Let me know what you think about it when you finish!

I will have to let you know when I finish. :) I'm doing good how about you. I had a crazy weekend. I went to see War on Friday at the fair and then Wicked on Saturday in Hollywood and then back to the fair on Sunday for the Doobie Brothers. I go see Smokey Robinson on Friday and KC & the Sunshine band with the Village People on Saturday. I am seeing a total of 7 concerts this year at the fair.

I suspect I was too young to appreciate either. I've started a trilogy by Caroline Gray (really a man), more a historical fiction and in a time/place I rarely go (France/Germany in early 1600s)... 30 Years War. Glad I am here and now!
