I was a bit angry about the ending....there certainly was another way to do resolve it. And what a long book... maybe that's why I am angry. After all that time, I expected something more.

Ok..I finished "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle".. didn't see it on your shelf, but think I remember you read it. Not sure what I think.. sorta a love/hate relationship... and the ending...sigh...

I have no idea how to use this website and do not find it intuitive. Mary is going to help me learn how to use it. BTW, when we have dinner (Marihelen is supposed to be arranging) bring the Kindle. I am really curious to see if I like it. See you soon. JC

Wow, this is cool Robin - Judith invited me. I'll have to see if I can get it together enough to add stuff to it. My most recent love was "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" Assuming I spelled that correctly.

It took me forever to finish it.. and I had a hard time keeping everyone straight. But.... prose is beautiful.. and as I began to see how everthing & characters intertwined, etc... I began to love it. However... since it is not an easy read at all.. I'll be careful who I suggest it to.

Well, you sold me on "The Girl with the Dragon Tatto," comparing it to "In the Woods,"...I'm going to put this one on reserve! Mary

Robin, I'm reading People of the Book. It's good. The author won the Pulitzer Prize for a book called March. Have you read it?

Duma Key was good. Not vintage King good, but worth the read if only to see what living with a damaged brain and loss of an arm might be like. Wonder if his accident gave him "research material" for the main character.
It wasn't spooky-monster like his earlier work. Probably better for folks who aren't so interested in the horror/gore/scary type of book.
Read a chapter or two and see if it grabs you. The first part is interesting, more drama than horror.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse!

    Hi Robin-

I love the wooden shelves! I'm going to have to spiff up my shelf now. The holidays are slowing down my reading though, so I don't have much to add.
