I am currently a college student majoring in a Doctorate of Business Administration emphasis in Information Services. I have been independently employed working as a project manager and a freelance web developer for the past 12 years. My independent career consists of being a leader to small business owners and providing different levels of teaching. From being a mentor to actual training in different areas such as software, business management operations, to soft skill training in risk operations investment. There are areas I have covered more than once and each session has been tweaked to meet a customer needs and the business environment.
Prior to starting on my own, I worked at a telemarketing firm which taught me the groundwork for where I am now. An example of such is during my years as a customer service representative I learned how to work with specialized customers whom I went above and beyond to always ensure they were taken care of before ending the call. That is what gave me the mentality of always providing a consumer high quality. I had the opportunity to mentor and train new hires which I took advantage of as a pet project so it became something that was very important to me as I wanted the job done correctly.
Shortly thereafter I was promoted to a programming position for the same client which I provided training and mentoring to employees. During that period, I created outbound campaigns from raw data in a UNIX SCO environment. Along with the coding I also provided support to multiple departments who were involved in the process of the campaign including technical duties after the campaign was completed. One of those duties included the need to provide technical writing aspect to the client and a further detail for the company file.
All of my previous work has brought me to present status as my skills have enhanced a learning curve. I am now in transition from programmer to educator. Because I have an undergraduate degree in Information Systems and an MBA in Business Administration, it provides me with a few areas of choice once my Doctorate in Information Services is complete.
