I'm very eager to try Cyberabad Days --- but must first read River of Gods. Ian MacDonald is such a talent.
Oh yes! I discovered him only last year and now I can't get enough of his stuff. Almost caught up now and then I can start over with re-read. ;D
Let me know when you pick your travel dates, I would love to see you both!
Happy New Year! Hope 2009 is full or great reading and adventures!
Good call with God Emperor of Dune --- also my favorite of the Dune sequels. I will probably never, not ever, read another book by Kevin Anderson after struggling my way through 3 parts of his Seven Suns series, so no worries about the Dune prequels :)
how did you like The Dreaming Void? I'm about 250 pages into it and not 100% sure yet. I do like the idea of taking an SF universe and then moving it 1500 years into the future --- don't think I've seen that before.
It's true, the Kage Baker series dwindled towards the end, but I love how she built up the plot --- I had no idea that Nicholas was anything more than a regular Englishman until book 5 or so. Yes, I love good space opera! Iain M. Banks is a favorite. Also love Peter F. Hamilton's works.
We *do* have a lot of books in common! Nice to see another Kage Baker reader also... she deserves more attention than she gets.
