I was born in San Antonio, TX. At the age of 3 my family moved to California. My parent's gave me a love for reading. As a family of six we would all go to the library on Saturday. Television didn't have much on and living in the mountains our tv reception wasn't good. I didn't have to worry about that with books.
In the 1960's I bought Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys for a nickel at some thrift shops. That was treasure to me. In my high school library I read a lot of the Perry Mason books. That's where I came across books by Howard Pease. His Tod Moran stories ofen left port in San Francisco and sailed to adventures around the world.
I married in 1969 and moved to Springfield, MA. I was lucky my mother-in-law gave me all her books to read.
Books don't have commercials. However you have to stop reading to do the housework and fix meals.
Sadly in December 2000 after a two year battle with cancer my hubby passed away.
In 2001 I purchased the RCA Gemstar Ebook. The downloads were slow at 56k. Now I have an Amazon Kindle and I love it. It's wireless downloads super fast. I can put on hundreds of books on it without having to use a memory card. I'm pleased that Amazon will continue to support Kindle and so far the reviews have been good. I'm never without a book. A Town Like Alice is one of my favorites. I've read and will continue to read anything written by Daniel Silva, Joseph Rosenberg, Kathy Reichs, Joseph Finder, Nelson Demille etc...
I liked Amber Beach, Jade Island, Pearl Cove and Midnight at Ruby Bayou by Elizabeth Lowell. Because I learned about Amber, Jade, Pearls and Rubies.
