    Hey!

It was cold ha ha! I should have brought warmer clothes! But it was very nice :] I did the Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island, the Melbourne Aquarium, Museum and local Gaol, the Victoria Market, Fed Square, and Parliament as well as some other things. It was really great aside from the chill :P The people were so nice! I swear in the 3 weeks I was there I only paid for like, maybe 4 meals. Everyone else paid for me, and not just for food. They were so generous!

I totally plan on going back, perhaps next summer, and seeing the rest of Australia. I'd hoped to go to Sydney and/or Perth during my stay, but because of the volcano ash and everything flights were grounded. So now I'm required to come back :]

Everything is so expensive where you live ha ha! That was something I really noticed! I went to see X-Men First class for $18 which could have gotten me 3 movie tickets here (I saw the movie on your extreme screen, which I guess is why it was a bit more, but it was kinda of funny since the screen was about the same size as our average movie theatre's).

But I really loved it and would love to see it again!

The Black Jewels Trilogy is pretty awesome- and after reading about The Hidden City, I think they're quite comparable actually. The Black Jewels center around a little girl named Janelle. She can jump between different realms without any trouble or using conventional means which is unheard of. She comes across Satan and his 2 sons which later represent Father, Brother, Lover. It's about how this one innocent child influences the decisions of those around her and how by just being herself others can find their salvation. I love it lol. I originally bought it cause it was on sale and huge (I got the trilogy all in one book) lol. It's one of my favourite fantasy stories :3 I haven't read anything else by Anne Bishop, but this trilogy definitely made an impression!

And it's pretty cool you live in Melbourne; in 10 days I'll be down there visiting friends! I'm so excited!

    Hey Karen!

I was wondering if you could answer a question I have about the novel The Hidden City. I like sci-fi, but I will admit a weakness for romance. Are there any romantic elements in this series? They don't have to be overt- I love Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy, though it's more focused on the fantasy element than the romantic. But in general I find I lose interest if there's zero romance.

I have read Sagara's Elantra series- how would you compare it? Romance-wise and in general- I've heard that these books have different audiences and suit different tastes.

    Thanks so much!

I mean, there's still things that arent figured out about sookie's life. About Eric, and her future, Brandon the enemy of sookie's great grandfather, her brother, Bill and all.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Karen! I hope you enjoy Rising Sign. :)

As far as Piers Anthony is concerned, what series are you interested in reading? If you'd like something very light and fun, I recommend A SPELL FOR CHAMELEON of the Xanth series. If you're interested in something a little more scifi/fantasy, I'd do SPLIT INFINITY of the Apprentice Adept series. For something that explores a more spiritual point of view, ON A PALE HORSE of the Incarnations of Immortality series is great to try. A journey focus - VIRTUAL MODE of the Mode series. Historical: go for SHAME OF MAN of the Geodessey series.

I hope this helps! :) Let me know what you choose!

Actually it wasn't CS Lewis that caught my eye.

There are a couple of things that caught my eye in ever such a good way.
First, your like of romance. Second that you are a student as I love university. Third that you are going to be a librarian. I worked at a library as the second job I ever did as a teen into college until I got laid off in a budget cut. And drum roll please.......
Third---cause woman with long hair, pretty smiles, and glasses are simply irresistable :DDDD

That is awesome that despite her struggles she has been able to maintain her interest in reading. So many students don't.

I got to visit your wonderful country back gosh about 20 years ago now I would say. My Aussie friend as the oppressive empire (oh no you commonwealth nation you) says Good day mate! (is it lass/lassie for the female version of the famous phrase?)
