"A man without a favorite author is a lost soul. He remains an unimpregnated ovum, an unfertilized pistil. One’s favorite author…is pollen for his soul."

I went to see Ben Stein's documentary "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" and it is fabulous. I think you would also love it.

    Hi again
Meant to tell you yesterday that I am reading D'Souza's "What's So Great About Christianity" and agree completely with your review. I love his work, but this is his best so far.

    Hi Ron
Just wanted to suggest a book to you that I didn't see on your list: "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds," by Charles Mackay. It is actually old, over 150 years old but still relevant today and an outstanding book. I have picked up a lot of ideas from your shelf. Thanks.

I am more of a George Gilder fan. Gilder is an original thinker whether he is writing on men and women or the free market and technology. Buckley never lived up to his own expectation. As a young man, he wanted he write that one big book. He aspired to writing a modern version of The Revolt of the Masses by Ortega y Gasset. By his own admission, he did not have the time or discipline to reach that goal.
