Steven King has really helped to open another world for me in my writing endeavors....learning how to un-settle someone by something as simple as writing for the mind's eye.

Hi,Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked When I was Five I Killed Myself, and thought you might like my novel since it's also about a disturbed adolescent and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:http://christophertusa.com/blog/?page_id...Thanks,Chris
I DEFINITELY would recommend Preston & Child- especially Cabinet of Curiousities. I find that I cannot put their books down once I start on them.
You are welcome blue, happy reading.
Hi Blue, Thanks for the info and I read this book back in January its very similar to Margaret Laurance "The Stone Angel"both very good books
hey..how are you. I was wondering if you'd finished Twilight yet? And if you have, I was wondering what you thought. I am going to pick up the 3rd and 4th book at some point in time. Right now I'm reading The Brethren by John Grisham. Talk to you later...
Funny...I just finished it and picked up the second in the series yesterday (I think it's called Eclipse). I don't know, I might get a little annoyed with all this teen emotion, if you know what I mean! I'm definitly interested, I just hope the author doesn't overdo the "we can't be together, because I'm not good for you thing" too much. I think that's so not original. Just my opinion. Like I said, I am excited to see what happens!
Long story on the puppy...She lives with other people now and it makes me sad to talk about. But anyway, I know what you mean about not having enough time to read, I only read at bedtime so I read very fast, but don't get through very much. I've had my nieces and nephews a lot this summer so I've had a lot of fun with them. Swimming pools and libraries and all that jazz! Anyway...happy reading.
Hi Paula, How are you and ave you seen the new site for woman 'Woman Speak' got some good topics going there. Hope you join.
Hi Paula, we haven't talked in a long time...how are things? I've been wondering if you've read Twilight (or if you been thinking about reading it). It sounds like something I'd be really interested in and I think I'll pick it up today. I'm in the middle of The Queens Fool right now. It's by the same author that wrote The Other Boleyn Girl. Somewhat different from my usual horror/fantasy/young adult genre, but it's pretty good so far. Hope you are enjoying your summer! Take care!
HI!!! what makes us different is just an "e"!!! and there's somebody called "blue e" too...
Hi Blue am going to Toronto on Friday for a week, am so glad to get away from this heat 90's for about a week, it will be so nice to walk around and be comfortable in Toronto. It does get hot there but at the moment is in the 60's. Well enjoy reading and that lovely dog you have, oh did I tell you about the Duck that comes to our pond with her thirteen Ducklings she had fifteen but they usually lose a few but to have kept thirteen is a miracle, now they are getting big there ara a couple who I think will soon go off on their own. What a relief for her it must have been such hard work. I had three that was hard enough boys not duckling LOL. Talk when I come back, Take care.Sheila
Hey blue, am reading 'The Book Thief' these days. It's a cute read, not too gory (WW II setting), and puts a microscope on situations that may have come together in those days; some are actually sweet even if poignant. Happy reading,R
Good to hear from you blue. now to answer your question Marley and Me was a great book, so light and uplifting, funny! but then dogs always are. I see from your shelf you have one of Ceasar Millan books, oh I love the Dog Whisperer I watch all his programs and I like him so much as a person, I almost bought his book yesterday as after reading marley and Me just wanted another nice happy light read. Yesterday when we where going out my husband asked "where shall we go" I looked at him and said "Who's Pack leader" we both burst our laughing". You have an interesting shelf, I noticed you had "The Husband" by Dean Koonz..think I took that to second hand book store the other day. I read mysterys book so fast that unless they are really good i never remember. I have two all time favorites they I will never let go for me they were two of the besst mtstery books written, one is Just Cause by John Katzenbach..such a great book ruined by the movie in fact if I had seen the movie first would never have read the book. The other is 'Presumed Innocent'by Scot Turow, the only mystery where I could not guess who done it, this time the movie was good, Harrison Ford played the lead. These two stay with me for ever. I must be honest and tell you I have not worked out how to arrange my shelf yet. My time now is so limited, this arthritis has made it difficult to do many things everything takes five times as long, some things I can no longer do. I am trying to get in to see a specialist..waiting list of about two months am not keen as it means taking dangerous meds but have seen a friend of mine now able to do housework and all the things she used to. Last year I was having steroid injections in my knees and what able to fast walk five times a week and keep myslef fit and strong, but I do not like taking them they put on weight and you really should not have too many. am so very angry because all my life i kept fit and healthy ate healthy food took vitamins, used to run with my oldest son who did long distance,I did not do the distance but it was when I was about forty I started running and kept up until about fifty when I could feel the arthrites starting its just the last six years its become very bad.Yes the private message is nice when like me today I am not talking about books, smile. Never mind am going out to walk with my husband today yesterday could hardly walk but I find if i rest one day feel much better the next.Like you i love dogs animals but after watching Ceasar decided I would not make a very good pack leader, the dog would diffenitly be leading me LOL. Will have to stick with cats but not until we retire and get settled in Santa Rosa, Ca. where we will retire near our youngest son and his wife. They have four rescue cats and I think have reached their limit as all cats have different personalties and are a handful. Young Mr Right will come your way and probably you will meet when walking your dog, smile.you never no.Have a great week and take care, Sheila
Good to hear from you Paula. Hope your weekend was fantastic, at last we had three good days of good weather. I enjoyed our deck and read 'Marley and Me' what a great book so uplifting wish it did not have to end. I am a bit like Marley..my life had been mad and crazy but lived to the full..now I have arthritis..oh why me! I could wallow in misery for ages on this page but I will not..only say have always been a health nut exercised..so why me? my Mother had it and it is heridtary(oh that does not look correct)( but you no what I mean, well like Marleys mad antic's it has brought mine to a halt..and am I ever mad..so mad I could eat a milk bone and enjoy it. Why me Why me..I ask God so many times. I started when I was about 50 but did not recognize it was arthritis just said at the end of the day..oh oh I am so tired my bones hurt..well that is what is was. Now am left with so much still to do but the body can not do it. I push as hard as I can, and my once spotless house ..oh yes you could eat off the floor is now um clean in imortant places but strewn with books and clothes, ironing to be done (oh yes I am mad but still iron) laundry all over to be taken up the stairs which now are so hard to climb,. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a great husband five years younger than me, strong healthy and if all goes well he will retire in a couple of years..we will then go to Santa Rosa Ca. Our youngest son and his wife want us to retire near them. I love my little daughter in law..she is little about 5foot 1inch,.size 5and half shoes smallest feet and hands I have ever seen. We are similar personality..does not mean we get on well..we do not but regognize it..we are to much alike stubborn and opininated..guesss thats why my son married her and she remindeds my husband of me. My Husband loves her guess she reminds him of me, she is a lovely girl and we love her, she is a tiny person but with so much energy. Its nice because when she is upset she e.mails my husband not me my husband, we do love her. Well now Marley and Me is finished I am going to read 'A History of the Middle East' by Peter Mansfield..oh the middle east..so prominent in history and so misunderstood. I must read as much as I can so that I can give a fair and balanced view, yes being married to a man from the middle eastis a plus he is an educated man. His Doctorate was in Pure Mathematics.Topolgy..me it could be my worst subject in school. LOL but opposites attract...but he can even spell better than me..something is wrong here LOL..oh well Paula I try, and we have a good marriage..he loves me I love him..what more can we ask for..oh yes not to have arthritis..will not forgive God for this..unless he is trying to tell me something.. I have been lucky in life. good parents, good husband and three of the best boys a Mother could ask for..so guess we can not have everything. Take care Paula, look forward to hearing from you.Sheila
and you Paula, stay safe.Sheila
Hi Blue nice to meet you love your dog. I judge people by their pets figure anyone who loves animals is a good person and yes I love animals sometimes more than people. Yes Shelfari is great group of people it was my first experience on the internet and has turned out to be great. We had such a long cold winter and I have developed arthritis which i can not believe as i have alweays been a health nut exercised..been active all my life but then with three boys and a husband to care for..yes that makes you active. I vowed my boys would not go out into the world expecting a woman to care of them, taught them all to cook clean do laundry in fact one when in University rather than hire a cleaning lady (because I worked) he said Mom pay me and I will clean..he cleaned better than any cleaning lady it worked out well he prefered it to busing tables. All my daughter in laws thank me! must have done something right.Life has been good to me, had good parent got a good husband and all the kids turned out ok got their degrees and are doing well. But life can never be perfect and like everyone else there has been some heart breaks along the way. Now just as I retire and get ready to really do all things I did not do when working and raising kids..I get arthritis..I am so mad could scream!I will not let it stop me, had back surgery few years ago and was due to go to see my son in Australia, husband could not go due to work..well I made it alone got wheeled through the airport went into a panic at LA as i thought i would miss my connection but I made and Oh I love Australia, my son and his wife live in Sydney 5mins walk from Bondi Beach..it was heaven. I love reading have six books beside me and have started three! sounds crazy..one draw back with Shelfari or at least with me, spend so much talking with friends i do not have time to read. I joined in the winter but now summer is here i want to be outside but Blue I do not want to lose all my nice friends, its a dilemma but guess it will work out.Oh you will notice i can not spell, its weird when you think how much i read, my husband is from Egypt English is his second language and i often ask him "how do i spell such and such" he laughs and says its your language not mine.Well my new friend i have sat here for three hours e.mailing Shelfari friends must get something done in this house. Enjoy your weekend look forward to hearing from you, oh my name is Sheila some call me D..what ever you like, smile.
