Some of my favorite authors are Douglas Adams, Tom Robbins, Christopher Moore, Wilkie Collins and Shakespeare (and lyrics by Neil Peart from Rush).

I majored in English and *almost* minored in Spanish. I'm an Anglophile, though I still haven't been to England. Some subjects I enjoy are Arthurian legend, Tibet, Native Americans...more »

I didn't see the "His Dark Materials" trilogy on your list. We REALLY enjoyed these books. A little odler in the concpets and writing style than "Harry Potter" or "Chronicles of Narnia". Next time your in the mood for a series, check it out!

I just finished "Eat, Love, Pray". I loved it! Its part of the reason I began questioning myself again, and had my *brief* crisis of spirit. It was an easy read, entertaining, and left me (obviously) with a lot to think about. All in all, it was uplifting.

    Hi Leah,
I can not call myself a fast reader. I just finished Kite Runner. Rest of the additions are the ones I read in the past and forgot to add to my list.
Surprisingly, it is a small world. How long have you been away from Wisconsin? One of my Shelfari friends lives in Melbourne. He/She lived 10 miles north of me 4 years ago!

Hi Leah - I'm really enjoying "Teacher Man" too. Everyone told me to skip 'Tis and go to this one, which I'll probably finish tonite. I picked up a ton of Advanced Reader's copies while visiting the family bookstore in Virginia, so maybe next I'll discover something great that hasn't been released yet! Thanks for the friendship!! (And I LOVE, love, love Austin, by the way)
    Peace!

Yes, my profile was brilliant in its succinctness, but alas, I felt the need to add a bit more! Hope your Friday was a good one, and that your weekend is even better.

Welcome to Shelfari! I think you'll find a friendly group who are a great source of inspiration for reading. Racine, eh? I student taught at Starbuck Middle School back in the 1970s. I'm looking forward to seeing your comments on the books on your shelves. That's probably the best way to really know what another person's thoughts and tastes are in reading. I find that writing even a short comment helps me remember the book better, and it helps clarify what I really think. Anyway, I'm happy to add you as a Shelfari friend.

Blame me all you want, this is a readers guilty time-waster right here! I love it! Just imagine how many books we'll be exposed to that we never would have thought to read. Speaking of "Jitterbug Perfume", I just loned in to my Mother-in law to read. What a great book!
