Good to see another Anne Tyler fan. And Peter Mayle, too. I read the Mists of Avalon years ago, and enjoyed it very much, at the time. Loved the strong female characters!
I read your note on my page, and I have to say that I *hated* Confederacy of Dunces. The attempted humor was so bitter and sophomoric, and the protagonist so pathetic, that I saw right away why it was initially rejected by many publishers. Unlike you, I did get to the end, although I found the reading experience distasteful.Here's to books like Middlesex!
