The intersting thing about reading this book, more than the actual reading of it, was the reaction of others when they saw what I was reading. Most let me know that it was controvercial. My opinion is that one must remember that it IS fiction. Having said that, the book does cause one to think and give one pause. The story is a little loose and sappy for my taste, but just the same........gives you several things to think about.

It wasn't until I was well into the book before I realized I'd seen the movie already. Who knows when. Still a good read. Very touching.

Interesting commentary on life of people with too much time on their hands, but also a good example of the fact that people really don't change once they've let you know who they are inside.

Got a little tedious towards the end.

This is a handy book to guide planting of the yard. The color combinations are very gentle, for the most part, and I think I may need to own this one as a permanent reference.

I found this engaging and pretty close to at least three different clergy whose churches I have attended. It was spooky how closely Lewis captured the heart of several of them; how most are dealing with demons of their own. It reminded me why I quit attending church a few years ago.

Quick enjoyable read. In 1900, a young widow finds her seaside cottage is haunted...and forms a unique relationship with the ghost. I've also seen the 1947 movie with Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison. Both the movie and the book are charming and the movie is pretty true to the book.

Set in Revoutionary Russia, this story tells the drama of lesser known historical figures. The story is told alternatly from the prospective of the widowed duchess, Elisavyeta who is sister-in-law to the tsar and a young revolutionary. The extremes of wealth and poverty in the late 1800's early 1900's.

Interesting intrigue of twists and turns pitting Science against Religion. Fast paced high IQ stuff. Loved it.

    I was laughing out loud.

"Combining southern warmth with unabashed emotion and side spitting hilarity, Fannie Flagg takes us to Elmwood Springs, Missouri, where the most unlikely and surprising experiences of a high-spirited octogenarian inspire a town to ponder the age old question: Why are we here."

It continues to be puzzling to me that anyone, but particularly a parent, could treat anyone with the such degradation of soul and body. The worrisome thing is that through history, and even today, we continue to see this kind of thing done to prisoners of war and people considered 'lesser'by those who are often in a position of protection. It is important to continue to write these kinds of books and articles in order to bear witness to mans' inhumanity to man so that we all can recognize the symptoms and signs in order to STOP these vile actions against innocents.
