My literary tastes are wide-reaching, from Classical drama, to modern-day YA fiction, to biographies, to nonfiction on Ancient Egypt, if it's interesting and has visually stimulating cover art, I'll give it a go. I am a particular fan of historical fiction, fantasy and sassy heroines. Give me a book that has all three and I am a happy camper indeed. I do in fact judge books by their covers, which gets me into trouble in Barnes and Noble when I see something pretty and decide I must own it. I hate William Faulkner and Toni Morrison with the passion of a thousand fires. Paraphrasing Tim Gunn, "Do not defend the book to me." I don't care if you think that they've made a greater impact on literature than Shakespeare, I will never believe you and I may mock you silently for holding such beliefs. I also believe that Stephanie Meyers should be tarred and feathered (but only symbolically because I saw someone being tarred and feathered on the John Adams mini-series and it looks really torturous and I don't advocate torture), but I need to actually read that 'Twilight' book before I decide to hate her utterly. « less
