Happy 2012!!!

I joined Shelfari because I LOVE books!

While I am no Mother Teresa, one of my favorite quotes is credited to her: We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love. I feel that it sums up how an average housewife, mother, and friend can have a positive influence on the world! ... more »

    A. Michaelson says

Hello, Evonne. I’m the author of The Sandal Maker, a new novel about the public ministry of Jesus from a unique point of view, a little controversial at times. It’s a story that will take you on a fascinating journey in first century Galilee. What part did women play in his ministry? Was he the first feminist? Were the miracles real? Why did Judas betray the Master? How does the gospel of Jesus compare to the gospel according to Peter and Paul? This is a “must read” for those on a true spiritual quest. You can read reviews at Amazon.com. I’m including here the publisher's notes. Let me know what you think.

    From the Publisher
    A. Michaelson's new novel, The Sandal Maker, takes the reader on a fascinating journey back to the year 70 A.D. in worn torn Palestine. The author creatively weaves two stories together, one in the present, the other in the past. Heartwarming, enlightening and tragic, The Sandal Maker paints a portrait of one man's life and his involvement in how the gospel came to be.

I just loved how the dead husband had anticipated that the dog would protect Julie and had such unselfish love. I finished Firefly Lane....I read it in 2 days. I had mixed emotions about it. I guess overall I thought it was just ok. I am starting "Another Mother's Life" tonight while I wait for a few of the books you recommended to come in from ordering them online. I am staying off my feet but having to stay drugged to feel ok....that is making me stay home. I guess that's the good thing. Will Jordan be trying out for the Valken travel team? Kessler is pretty psyched about it and will be there this weekend...I guess I won't - LOL! Have you checked out the book swap club yet. I have mailed 4 books already and have 4 on the way to me and have only spent $10.

That's what I liked about this book....it has a surprise ending that you just don't see coming and I am usually good at figuring them out. In fact, it's well never mind, I don't want to give anything away! I started FireFly Lane today and I can already tell it's going to be good....I think I am going to turn off the tube and keep reading. My leg.....ummm, I am having to rely on pain medicine more than I would like but I think it's because I have been working all week without taking anything. When i called the doctors office to find out if I can take something like tylenol, the nurses were all surprised I was working. They said most people take at least a week off of work. I guess I have a high tolerance for pain! Anyway, they ordered me to bed all weekend and told me to take pain pills every 4 hours to make me sleep so the swelling will go down. I am sure it will be better in the long run.....tell me if you're suprised when you get to the end.

hey, did you see the news story about the free book swap group in suwanee? it's www.papebackswap.com. i joined today and all you do is post 10 books to sign up. you are eligible to ask anyone to send you 2 books and then you mail any books requested of you. all it costs is the postage to mail but you print out the labels on your computer and pay the book postage which is usully less than $2. definitely cheaper than buying the books. clark howard recommended it.

Well, I need to read those books because Kessler has recently started with ths attitude and last night otld me that he "hates" me! I knew it was coming but I was a bit surprised to hear some of the word tracks from his sister!!!! I kind of thought that wasa girl thing -LOL! Anyway, he is grounded for an undertermined amount of time and I think he's in culture shock right now. We'll see if he has an attitude adjustment any time soon! Thanks for the suggestion!

How funny.....what book was it? I have so much work to do to get all the books I've read logged on (if I can remember). I am still struggling to figure out how to read/use this site but it seems pretty cool. I know a lot of people that are avid readers that I think would like it. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the note! I haven't been on Shelfari much and didn't even realize I had all these notes, so sorry it took so long to respond! Well first off, Happy Thanksgiving!!

I did not read "Nights in Rodanthe" yet, so I'm definitely going to listen to you and watch the movie first! I guess I have to wait for it to come out on DVD now, though.

Thanks for the advice about my fear of death. I think it has gotten a little bit better, although it did get a little worse a few months ago because an acquaintance of mine, but a close friend to my friends passed away right after his 20th birthday in a motorcycle accident. This makes me nervous because my boyfriend rides a motorcycle as well, although his engine actually lit on fire a couple days after the friend passed away (which I kind of took as a sign!!), so my boyfriend has not been able to ride for a few months and I have been thankful for that...lessening my fears, lol.

School is alright. It's my last year, and I finally graduate in June, although I'm not looking forward to graduating in this economy!!

How is everything with you? Read anything good lately? I am going to to take a look at your shelf right now :) Take care!

Evonne... wow... I'll remember y'all in my prayers. That's a lot to handle.

I started Beth Moore's study Stepping Up... I just haven't finished it yet. I can only do a couple things at a time. That "The Middle Place" sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for taking time from your busy schedule to reply. Many blessings to you and your family Evonne.
