My love affair with the written word began as a child and continued into adulthood. I got hooked on romance novels after my two children were born. A good friend introduced me to the books of writer Kathleen Woodiwiss, one of the first grand-dames of the romance genre. I read her book, a historical romance entitled ‘Shana,’ and was hooked from that point on.
A few years ago I decided to write my own contemporary romance novel. Influenced by Ms. Woodiwiss and a myriad of other authors I read at the time – Linda Howard and Karen Robards just to name a couple of them. At the time I started writing romance, romance novels were going through a change. It was the late‘90’s, and romantic suspense, a was on the rise. So was time-travel romance. Soon, futurist romance novels were beginning to emerge. In the last few years, romance stories have become bolder, hotter, intense, passionate reads – following the hot trends of television and movies.
Three years ago, one of my novels, THE FINE ART OF KISSING, won recognition in a Romance Writers of America contest. It won first place in the contemporary category of Central Ohio Romance Writers ‘Ignite the Flame’ contest. From that point on, my writing has seen tremendous growth and recognition by readers and publishers alike.
I'm thrilled to be here on Shelfari and I've made so many new friends!
Happy reading, everyone.
